I use sx os and know flycast won’t work so is my only option to use atmosphere through sx os and then load an nsp game through atmosphere, hold the r button to enter the home brew menu and then load retroarch flycast core that way?

So, I decided to actually do something and try out more than the usual trio of games than I usually care about (CvS2, Soul Calibur 1, and MvC2) and try some more DC games out with what I'm assuming is still the current update. Btw, this is all running on a maximum OC of 1785 in portable mode. And using DC versions of games that have NAOMI equivalents.

Virtua Tennis: Runs at 50-40 fps. Not really playable IMO with how delayed one's reactions get, not to mention the sound stuttering.

Virtua Fighter 3: Runs at 55-57 fps (sometimes it reads 60, and Jeffry's Vaporwave-esque stage seems to hang out in the 55fps range), with the only problem being...that he menu doesn't darken the BG. Truthfully, the worst issue ever! /s Still, it isn't Virtua Fighter 4 or Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown...Man, maybe if Sega made a Virtua Fighter 6 with Kiryu-chan as a guest character...

    Sega Rally 2:

(no, but really, it just hangs on the "Licensed by Sega and powered by Windows CE" screen, with the framerate going back and forth. At least I could go to the home screen and kill the program!)

DOA2 Shokai Gentei Ban (Has Bayman and lets you unlock the final boss, the normal version of the game doesn't. I think the PS2 version is based off of this one): Runs surprisingly well at a very consistent 60 fps even after knocking an opponent into the wall on the training (called "Sparring" in the menu) stage considering how demanding the damn game is on my ODroid XU4 compared to other games.

    Btw, that CG Gallery... ;)

Daytona USA (did I already go over this one in a previous post?): I want to Go Away, reach a height Sky High, and get over a hump that will have me Pounding the Pavement as I journey towards becoming the King of Speed..."but unfortunately, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi's hit record is not playing car dealerships in Japan because of the rather insane amounts of skipping on the records in production upon reaching said car dealerships nationwide. Thankfully, an external, unofficial company is working on said issues, stating that they will be quick to resolve the production problems and ensure that everyone can enjoy Mitsuyoshi's passionate singing and tunes the way they were intended!"

Tech Romancer: Here's one that I don't hear a lot about. Is this supposed to be Capcom trying to go the Street Fighter EX route with the Cyberbots..."series" of 2 games, one being a beat em' up and the other a fighter where Jin Saotome hailed? Anyways, it seems to run fine. The interface gives me Psychic Force vibes, and it feels like they took some inspiration from KI with the way health and rounds is handled, but this doesn't seem like a game that couldn't have run on PS1. Speaking of obscure 3D arcade fighters made by Capcom that aren't Project Justice (AKA Rival Schools 2 which runs at full speed from what little I played of it in the Training Mode)

Plasma Sword - Nightmare of Bilstein: So, did you know that this is the sequel to Star Solider? I mean, it's obvious, right? Star Soldier 2? That's sooo boring...Oh, this is where Hayato from MVC2 hailed from. And it's totally not their take on Star Wars in any way, shape, or form! /s

...anyways, poking fun at Capcom 3D fighter sequel naming conventions aside, it doesn't run at a full 60fps, and hangs around 53 fps in matches. Why, I couldn't tell you. The game, kind of like Tech Romancer, has the problem of looking like less jagged-looking version of the PS1 original, and when you put Soul Calibur next to it, with the animations and everything, you could tell that the calibre of Capcom just couldn't get to the edge of Namco's soul.

Bangai-O: "The software was closed because an error occurred."

Cosmic Smash: Talk about minimalist. What do you call this game's digital style of music? I kind of want to listen to more like it...Anyways, it runs at 60fps, with not much else to say.

Metropolis Street Racer: Apparently, this is Project Gotham Racing 0, for all intents and purposes? Haven't personally played the games myself. Performance-wise, it runs fine on the menus (it's not one of those games where you can just select race like with Daytona USA and jump right in. You have to create a profile like you're using that DreamPi-online multiplayer thing I've seen floating around on the Internet), and runs fine at 60fps when by yourself. Unfortunately, I don't exactly have an hourglass that refreshes itself, so maybe if someone feels like downloading a complete save that lets you free roam or whatever, the ball will be in your court to test this game that gives me Gran Turismo-esque vibes in how it's set up, though it's not like you're given a used car to start with, at least!

Rez: The only PAL game I got. I really wouldn't be surprised if this got a port to the Switch at some point seeing as it's been ported to the 360 and Steam, but then again, it isn't Doom, so...

...anyways, using the Travelling mode (I'm just testing stuff, if I was being serious, I'd play this game on a PC or something with better sensitivity than an analog stick considering how it plays), the DC version as emulated by Flycast on Horizon via RA "runs at 60fps." I have that in quotations because it certainly doesn't feel like 60fps, and I've seen this game run more smoothly on an actual DC as my brother played the game on the system years ago (via a backup CD that he got a lot of when shopping for games on eBay because that was what's apparently floating around in DC circles back then). It gets slower the more you get into the levels, it seems.

On a side note, I think it'd be fun to see an Audiosurf-esque version of this game come out on PC!

Jet Grind Radio: Last one. I've been filling this megapost up for about an hour, so I'm calling it quits after this more well known one. Runs at 60fps with all of the cel shaded glory intact!

Alright, that's my belated report on how Flycast is running currently on Switch via RA on Horizon.

Aye, Project Gotham Racing was the sequel to Metropolis Street Racer - Sega owned the name to the latter, that's all. It run perfectly in Flycast from what I can tell.

As for Bangai-O, the Japanese version works fine. So use that. I couldn't get any western version working.

Good to know someone else has already done the testing...

EDIT: Gomennesai @sj33, it looks like you're reacting to all of my benchmark results...

No offence, but SX OS users really have to try it for themselves. No testing is being done on SX OS. It may or may not work.

You're gonna need the BIOS for both of those systems in addition to the DC BIOS (Google's your friend), and, according to someone who told me about how to get the games to work on this build of RA for the Switch, you need a very specific set of ROMs made to run on MAME of all things. Otherwise, it's gonna give you the DC boot screen in my experience and take you to the menu not long after!

.bin/.lst wont work in this version of Flycast (although they work on Lakka) you will have to find Mame roms .zip, only ones that work.

I can't be more specific I said you need .zip those won't work those aren't .zip.

I'm sure you've dealt with mame roms before right? You need to go to a site that has mame roms and the naomi roms wil be included with them. Of course I cannot tell you which site, and not every site that has mame roms is guaranteed to have naomi roms.

Anyone else having problems with VMU saves on this? I have it set to A1 slot per game, but whenever I save it persists in the VMU across resets within the core, but changing cores it does not load the VMU I saved.
