Get the R4 and be all like U R4 Me baby.

The R4 is a great chip with good updates and Rayder has made an incredible code comp for it.

Also it is a simple drag and drop, easy to skin and throw games on it. Works with wifi. Dont make your choice on the flashcart using the GBATemp reviews because they are out dated.

The R4 at realhotstuff.com is only 3 bucks less than the CycloDS after the price increase of the R4. I would say that is a huge ripoff when comparing the Cyclo and the R4.

odinbsd: Realhotstuff is a great place to buy from. Fast and good service.

    Hello There~

Well, being the owner of an EDGE (and nothing else), I can only give you my opinions on the EDGE cart. Yes, it's considered a budge cart, but the fact about the EDGE is that it's just not currently available (in the amount that it should be) in the market right now. Even with the "lower" price, my EDGE cart cost me around 50 dollars because it was shipped from Canada . (I live inside the United States)

Of course, EDGE has its own pluses. It has a very simplistic menu and it auto-recognizes the games so that you don't have to rename it! It's a pretty stylish cart too mind you!

But from that list, if the Acekard 2 is still available, I would probably go for that! Since it has a good range of functions and it is cheaper compared to that of the CycloDS.

I would recommend EDGE, as long as you can find a good reseller that does not charge ~20 dollars for shipping~

    Best of Luck!
    And happy Birthday to her!

why lie? the R4 DS hasn't had a real update in ages, hes best of buying a cyclo ds as it's future proof and offers more.

    CycloDS or AceKard 2 ... not R4.

    I'd strongly recommend Acekard 2.
I've finally laid my hands on the Acekard 2 (alot in infact.. [IMG]).
Browsing in between roms is very fast and the user interface can be customised.
Imagine having your gf's pic or pic of both of you in the background.

Do check out the review of the Acekard 2 by GBATemp.

Hmm..today is 02 April, to meet 18th April or earlier, you have enough time to lay your hands on it and even customise it.
I personally own a R4 too..but it's limited by the 2 GB limit, whereas Acekard 2 supports SDHC 4 GB or more).
    my 2 cents.

They fix what problems it may have in each update.
It isnt a lie. You cant exactly fix something that isnt broken.

The R4 is too pricey for what it does ... all the updates for it now are simply single game fixes.

Take the FFCC situation ... the Acekard & the CycloDS weren't even affected, whereas the R4 was the hardest hit cart, and one of the slowest to provide a fix.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to either the SCDS1 or Acekard 2 now, having read more. The DSTT seems rather pointless seeing as you can run its software on the SCDS if you choose to...and still change over for all the SCDS features when you want them. Still kind of looking at the Acekard but unless I find something to beat this deal http://www.leetmod.com/index.php?main_page...ac6207121b4eeac I will probably order it soon. Since I wanted a screen protector anyway, I wouldnt even save anything ordering it all from DX and possibly not receiving anything for weeks.

exactly, the R4DS doesn't receive real updates just small game fixes that don't even add any new features.

    I have these cards :
    R4, M3 Simply, DSTT, Edge, Acekard2.

    My first choice: Acekard2
Acekard2 has the most extensive GUI and it's fast.

    My second choice: EDGE
Edge GUI looks similar to R4/M3Simply, it's userfriendly and it's fast.
(Edge uses the same skins as Cyclo)

    My third choice:
DSTT has a nice GUI, showing all the roms at once, but it's slow when scrolling through the items.

Don't have the other cards (CycloDS/SCDS1), so can't tell you about those.
I believe they're slightly more expensive than the abovementioned cards.

I bought mine at dealextreme and bamboogaming.
If you order it now, it will probably be there with you before the 18th.
    Happy birthday [IMG]

CycloDS Evo, I've had no problems with any games and very easy to use.

Even my Mrs knows how to use it and she has problems putting pictures on my PC from her camera!

    grab a supercard lite.
    basic info
also all you need to do is throw the games on the root or in folders and it will be easy to select.

the supercard sd is 30$ if price is an issue

I'm also looking for a budget cart right now to move away from the EzV that I have, and I'm leaning towards EDGE. I was debating between Acekard 2 and EDGE, but I read around in this forum that Acekard 2 is a little picky with the MicroSD you choose, and according toe the GBATemp review, Acekard 2 isn't that sturdy, compared to the review of EDGE where it's said to be one of the more sturdier slot-1 cards out there. The only two problems I have with EDGE are long term support, and the fact I can't find it anywhere right now for a decent price (DX is sold out till the 7th apparently and that's where I want to get it from). Long term support can be thrown out if there are no more compatibility issues with the cart, and seeing how it doesn't need updates to fix new games a lot, I'd say it would be worth looking into. Another problem is cheats on the EDGE, they don't have a cheat editor out yet, and it isn't compatible with the cheat data base on here for the R4 I believe. It's for your wife though, so I don't think cheats is going to be a big thing, just as long as the games run I think she would be happy.

    Between Acekard 2 & EDGE, I'd choose Acekard 2.

Well it was a long time ago, but I got a female friend a pink DS lite and a R4 with a 2GB microSD for her birthday, and she hasn't stopped playing animal crossing religiously ever since. [IMG]

I think people need to be made aware of the dangers in owning a flashcart. [IMG]

Best advice is read all the relevent posts and then get the current market leader. As a R4 fanboy, I know it's still an awesome stable cart....but MicroSDHC with it's 4-8GB + capacity would be nice! [IMG]

Anywayz the point is to get a cart as quickly as you can.

Acekard 2 will be the cart with the least trouble....especially with regards to future game/ROM compatabilty.[IMG]
