I promice that I have done my research before asking these questions!

I'm verrry confused about the various flash cards, but it seems the best ones are the EZ-Flash-5, the r4 and the M3?

Im currently leaning towards the EZFlash 5 with the 3-in-1 slot 2 device, but i hear the R4 is very good.

Am I making the correct choice? Or is it all down to preference?

Which do you guys suggest, and why?

    Thank you [IMG]

    Good times.

R4 + 3in1 is probably the best combination, however it is slightly trickier to utilize the 3in1.

4saken: Why is the r4 preferable over the ez-5?

Get the EZV 3 in 1 for the slot 2 and the R4 for the slot 1.
You'll be able to do basically everything possible on the DS. [IMG]

No need for a save list, saves are written to the cart in real time, cheat support, and soft reset without patching.

Right, I also hear that the R4 is essentially identical to the m3 simply.

However, a review I have read ( http://scorpei.com/R4DS.html ) Indicates that the m3 simply is prefereable.

    Which should I choose?

The least expensive one / the one with the prettier sticker. They're the exact same, really.

It's exactly the same other than the fact the R4 receives updates a little while earlier.

well there's only a week difference in updates and you can use that app to utilize the r4 firmware on the m3 simply now anyway. so no there's no diffence.
yeh i'm getting really confused as to which slot2 device to get for my ds and i want one for my sons gba too. sorry to hijack the thread but if i make another i'll get shot down. [IMG]

EZ Flash IV is probably the best for price/compatibility on gba

I too wish to hijack this thread as the OP and first hijackee have their problems solved.

I have an R4DS, now I would like to get a slot 2 equivalent to that if possible, to play gba games on my ds.
The more I read the more confused I get.

Is there a device like the R4DS, only for slot 2, which doesn't involve doing nasty flashy things to my ds.
Preferably something that has a slot in memory card, again like the R4DS. And doesn't need a slot one card to make it work.

    Over there.
If you want to just play GBA games on your slot 2, get an ezf 3-in-1. OTherwise if you get any other and don't use their funtions, 'tis a waste of time. Go for EZF3-in-1. [IMG]

In my eyes, the CycloDS is waaay better than the new R4s by a long shot. Then, hen the AceKard comes out I will truly ejaculate over that.

I have all 3 carts mentioned, so I find my opinion to be some what useful.

    OK Guys.
Bear with me I have just reread the reviews on this site most of which consist of saying I'm only going to discuss the hardware see review XX for the rest.
Then I read the reviews here http://www.scorpei.com/reviews_general.html
I also looked at the wiki for the EZ thing you mentioned and the manufacturers website for the M3 thing

At this point I just figure I'm going to have to give up.
I don't understand what they are on about.

I just want to put gba games on a little memory card like I do with NDS games on the R4DS in slot 1
and put it into some R4DS equivilant for slot 2.

It keeps talking about ram and pass cards and converting games with special software before you can use them and flashing your NDS (which I will NOT do).
I'm not interested in movies or music or homebrew just GBA games.

Is there nothing simple like the r4ds for slot 2?

Get the EZFlas 3 in 1 Expansion Pack. You keep the roms on the R4, and transfer them to the EZF when you want to run them via a homebrew tool.

The CycloDS is just paying 10 extra dollars for Wii connectivity in my opinion.

    Thanks Urza, [IMG]
but I don't need to mess with my R4. That is for my NDS games and is fine as it is.

I want an equivalent for device to put in slot 2 to do an equivalent job but for GBA games only

Just to clean things up a little: ignore everything you've read about passcards and flashing, you do not need either to run GBA games. They are only needed if you're trying to run DS games from the slot 2 cart, they force the DS to look for DS software in the wrong slot, which was what people had to do before slot 1 carts came out.

Ram is needed to run GBA games, so all you need to know about that is to avoid the cartridges that don't have it (EZ-IV Compact, M3 Professional and Supercard Rumble). They're cheap for a reason [IMG]

Don't let patching games put you off, it's easier than it sounds. As far as I know all of the carts that use memory cards need the games patched to handle the savefiles.

I've heard lots of people recommend the EZ-IV, or the EZ-IV Lite deluxe. (depends what DS you've got, and if you plan on using it in an actual GBA as well).

Like Urza and myself had said, go for the EZ Flash 3-in-1, it just plays GBA games, like you want to do right? It also supports rumble and browser. Pretty good for a mere 20 bucks US.
