Details on the augmented reality games that will come preloaded on the new Nintendo 3DS handheld have been leaked, courtesy of technology outlet Wired's trusted source. Augmented reality uses a combination of live video from a handheld camera and digital imagery to show you what the camera sees, but with additional information or, in the case of the Nintendo 3DS, entertainment elements.
The leaked games include Graffiti, Fishing, AR Shot, Star Pics, and Mii Pics. Each has its own objectives, but all of them revolve around the Nintendo 3DS's back-facing camera. In Fishing, for example, you cast an on-screen virtual fishing rod into whatever flat surface you have the 3DS aimed at. Raising and lowering the the rod allows you to yank fish out of the afore-mentioned surface.
Graffiti lets you to commit some virtual vandalism to wherever you may be playing, and AR Shot (pictured above) requires you to hit a virtual ball around your environment and into a hole at wherever the game determines is the goal. Star Pics and Mii Pics are both virtual photo shoot applications that let you pose either your custom-made Mii or an iconic Nintendo character and shoot them in 3D with the 3DS's camera.[/p]
