Man I never beat the first one. It just got so boring. I still have it though; maybe I should bust out the action replay.

Somehow I managed to play through almost all of the Japanese version -- no translation guide or nothin'. It's a beautiful DS game, both graphically and cinematically. There's full voice work, and like any good Square-Enix game, the production values are as good as they get. The gameplay also is pretty fun, but it's a button masher, no doubt. It also ramps up something awful at the very end, and that's why I stopped playing. I just didn't have the patience to do the level grinding required. Most of the game was a breeze -- pretty much too easy -- and then bam, brutality! But I do intend on playing through it again. I look forward to understanding everything as I go. The ally AI can get stuck on stuff, and like I said, it can be pretty repetitive, but I'm a sucker for all that Square-Enix shininess. I would have to say, though, it isn't quite in the class of what I would consider an "awesome" RPG.

I started playing the Japanese version in multiplayer... it was pretty fun though if anything I'm now more interested in giving Soma Bringer a go in multiplayer rather than FFC.

And about the Ring of Fates thing...

You're an American FFS... The name is RINGS OF FATE...
The official website for north america would like to have a word with you.

That not enough for you? How about the ebgames website?

It's one thing to be wrong, but please, don't be wrong and arrogant.
nintendo themselves have repeatedly called it "rings of fate"
not to mention the game features multiple rings, and only one fate

and I've very muchly looking forward to FFCC, I nearly finished the jap version, nice graphics, nice cutscenes, voice acting, very fun combat, interesting levels and very cool music

Not sure what Nintendo has referred to it as, but here's what Square Enix -- the game's makers -- call it:

@ Sonic209: There are actually two Crystal Chronicles games coming out for the Wii. One will be a full-on CC game sold at retail outlets, and the other is an offshoot (which is funny, since CC is an offshoot itself) that is more like Sim City meets Final Fantasy for WiiWare.

BTW, on the topic of rings and fates, it seems to me that the title hints at a circle of people whose fates are intertwined: A ring of fates.

I never played the CC series but this sounds good. Should I expect something like Zelda or Sword of Mana or more like the Tales series?

its basically the same type gameplay as the GameCube one (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles) if you've played it before
otherwise its like an action-rpg or hack n' slash like Secret of Mana on SNES
