it always freezes, everyone has problems with it, especially drawing and casting certain spells like scan.

What about the other PSX FF games?
I was going to put 9 on my PSP, does anyone know how it goes?

9 and 7 works fine, so does anthologies I believe. I hear anthologies runs a tad slow then entering menus, so you may as well use the SNES emulator to play the originals. I grabbed my mighty save games from ff7 and played around with it to relive some memories and it's been flawless minus the battle swirls (can be fixed by 3.02 POPs plugin). And 9 is the same, some slight graphic glitches in memoria I saw but overall works fine with a smidge of slowdowns when too many things are happening in towns or battles.
