Well FFV is out well the jap version at least, but since i can't read japanesse well enough to play this im not sure what's new in this version of the game. For once it's nice to see a decent release worth looking at aside from all the little mermaid, cats & dogs releases.

From what I hear the game has 4 extra classes, that and Square-Enix is apparently re-translating the entire game instead of ripping it from the PS1 Antholigy port.

I got the jobs part, I'm just really surprised, because even the old classes had some horribly imbalanced (GP toss anyone?) and never used classes. (Bard, Dancer?)
Now they include four more, they should have balanced, but meh.
Hmm found it, Necromancer, Cannoneer, Gladiator, Prophet. Seems interesting.

I wonder what added content there may be....if any. The lunar cave in FF4 was awesome and a nice bonus, as was being able to change the party once you got to the moon. If the FF6 rerelease would have a bonus Ultros story that would be hilariously awesome!

Umm no it wouldn't these games are enough they ruined the series after snes, so i think they should leave this game alone for now.

I never played through this game on SNES or PS1, so I can't wait for its US release. Does the job system ever get too complicated or become a distraction from the main game, or is it generally useful?

On snes it was good, but that was over 5 years ago nobody will actually know till next month. They way i see it snes was the real deal ps1 was just a fake game with a inaccurate story, but i think it might be fixed in this version though.

P.S Enough with the remakes time for originally again.

I think he's saying that the PSX one was a shoddy copy of the SNES game.

Having played the SuperFamicom copy and the PSX one, on that ground, if I interpreted him right, he's correct.

I found out the other day I'm receiving a free copy from NOA to review for the media site I work for so I can't wait to take my 3rd crack at it. Couldn't stand the PSX one and it's weird translation and odd glitches in that shoddy job port it was, and the other I hadn't (SFC) seen in nearly now 8-10 years.



Oh and staying on the topic far as I know this is what is done:
- 4 new jobs
- rebalancing of other existing jobs
- a new superdungeon of the likes of FF4Advance had
- Proper retranslation

...aside from the usual new font for the small screen with rescaled graphics it should be as it was on the SFC considering this IS NOT a Wonderswan Color port but all NEW code.

Oh, I thought he was parroting some kind of inane "look at me, I'm oldschool! speech" like a typical GameFAQs user saying that the games after the SNES ones somehow sucked even though most of those kids weren't even around or were in diapers when the earlier games were released. I'll agree the PS1 ports of 5&6 were pretty bad, mostly due to the insane loading times.

I'm waiting for this and the GBA re-release of FF6 though. Last time I actually played FF5 through was with a fan-translated SNES ROM. Should be fun and this'll be out within the week.

I already own a copy since I'm a game reviewer for ds.advancedmn.com and I have to say it's kickass.

Yes it does have the changes I listed, but they went the extra mile on presentation. It has the same visual updates that FF4A got for menus, but also a nice new opening to the game which pans over the land among other things. Furthermore, the music is breathtaking. They rescored the entire soundtrack to the game and it actually is superior to the SNES/PSX audio I kid you not. I put about 5 hours on it yesterday (When I got it) using my never touched GB Player over my 5.1 system and it stunned me. The music has more proper sound effects/instrument effects, no so much as remixed but enhanced audio basically. Also I may as well add in the re-translation is a beauty, don't miss out on this one or you're a fool.

I know I know, no respect, figured that would happen. I've had it since Friday and all that and could easily have dumped it with my f2a usb setup, but seeing it was sent from NOA themselves I'd rather this one time take the highroad, just like last year when I had FF4A about a week in advance.
