Hey, just a quick question, ive noticed that NDS roms are usually around 25mb or so but there are a number of G6 Lite users that complain that the disk space is too small. Im almost sold on getting a G6 Lite but was wondering once the games are converted to be played on the G6 Lite do they increse in file size? I was just wondering how many titles could fit onto the cart without any other games or movies on there. (i.e the 'big' games like Mario Kart, Pheonix Wright, Metroid, etc)

Thanks for your time guys, feel free to move this thread if you feel its in the wrong place

    Rich..

games are not bigger than they are on your pc, they even get smaller when you use the trim rom option. in no way they get bigger.
depending on what games you choose, id say using trim you get around 20 games on a g6

    np mate.
like i said, depending on what games you choose.
some games are up to 128mb (well, 2 or 3) but most games are 32mb or 64mb.
just pick your favourite games and see how big they are together. i guess when using trim option you will fit 600-700mb (on your pc) of roms on the 512mb of the g6.

    Just a note:
The G6 Lite's capacity is in bits, so if you divide it by 8 you get the exact space on have much data you can put on it.
    4096 / 8 = 512. You can store roms up to 512MB on it.

It all depends on which size you get.

    1, 2, or 4 gigabit.

The ROM on your computer will show in megabytes and not megabits which it is on the cart.

Here's a rough translation of megabytes to megabits:
    4 Megabytes = 32 Megabits
    8 Megabytes = 64 Megabits
    16 Megabytes = 128 Megabits
    32 Megabytes = 256 Megabits
    64 Megabytes = 512 Megabits
    128 Megabytes = 1024 Megabits

The largest games out there right now are 1024 Megabit (which is 1 Gigabit) being Resident Evil: Deadly Silence and The Rub Rabbits. So if you got a 1 Gig card, and wanted resident evil on it, that is all you could fit.

The G6 Lite (which the OP was asking about) only comes in a 4 gigabit version.

I seriously hope you didn't believe Mars's ludicrous figure of 20 carts.

It all depends on how big each game you want to play is.

When it comes to my games (bleach, mario, kirby, etc..) I can only fit about 7-8 games on there max.
I wish the G6 Lite was a 1gigabyte version. That would truly seal the deal.

    According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS#Technology

The maximum capacity of a flashcard the NDS support is 128MB (1024mbit).

The G6 currently ships in 4gbit = 4096mbit = 512MB. Thus at maximum capacity of the G6 lite, it can carry 4 maxed sized NDS games. This is excluding any shell programs or anything extra.... those can take up some space and you will not have enough remaining space for the 4th game.

Of course, the support for the NDS is subject to change, but as we've seen with Nintendo's system... they don't increase supported cart size.

512 meg is enough even for 128mb games since 3 games is fine, the rest can go inside ur comp and transferred easily.
