From NME.com
"50 Cent filed suit today (July 20) against an internet advertising company for allegedly using his likeness in a video game called 'Shoot The Rapper' without his permission.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is suing Traffix Inc. for $1 million for using his image in the game where players are asked to shoot him by clicking a computer mouse.

If a player succeeds in shooting him, a red cloud appears and the person is directed to a website selling the defendant's goods and services.

50 Cent's lawyer, Peter Raymond, said the rapper's name is not mentioned in the game, but "it looks like him, and there's no doubt the character is intended to be him," reports the Associated Press.

The lawsuit seeks a minimum of $1 million in actual damages, a permanent injunction against the use of his image without his permission, and unspecified punitive damages."

He'd should really sue Vivendi for making that awful game a while back and I should sue him for not making any decent records since "Get Rich or Die Tryin'".

I want to sue him for the dumb shit he says such as his latest: "Nas is too smart to succeed"
I'm not really into hip hop anymore, its mostly crap that I've heard (though the lesser known stuff is pretty good) but at least Nas is still making good records and saying something worth listening to.

Fuck that corporate whore.
Nobody in the industry got anywhere without selling their soul. You think they gonna put some trailer trash like Em up on the global stage in front of billions of people unless they were 100% sure he wasn't gonna say anything "dangerous"?
People like Em and 50 get away with saying things other rappers can't because the government is absolutely sure that these rappers don't believe in things such as; communism (as evidenced by the greed of those two rappers), anarchism, anti-western ideals, anti-imperialism, anti-bigpharma/oil/defense industries, Black Power, ...

The dumber and eviler you are, the greater your chances of success because the government isn't going to hold you back.
(Sometimes mistakes happen as in the case of Tupac. After all, he was 'just' an actor with moderate ghetto roots, how shallow can you get? Big mistake!)

They had famous movie stars and singers in Nazi Germany too, they sold millions of tickets, but you can bet you're ass they were pro-government.
Rappers like Immortal Technique and Nas are the equivalent of some hardboiled American southerner arriving in Germany and trying to become a star - you can't and won't, unless you drop your patriotism and subject yourself to government/self censorship.

We all know Eminem did songs such as "Mosh", but that was during the election period when such things are tolerated (he was advertising for the Democratic party, not anarchy) and that he said shit like "I'd like to see the president dead", but after he did that and got visited by G-Men, he never said it again (Lt. Marshal Matthers, we are worried that you are taking your covert mission to provide the masses with CIA-approved entertainment so the ghetto-shaped revolutionaries in this country can't get to the stage too far. Try to disguise your membership within our agency with less provocative words.)

I find it strange that just before the entire 9/11 Truth/We Hate Bush thing started Eminem suddenly retired. If he didn't, it would have become very obvious by now that he was a Fake all along because he wouldn't be rebelling against the government and instead would be making trivial music about how big a rebel he is.

That's why 50 is absolutely right in saying Nas is too smart to make money. What he didn't care to mention was that the other factor contributing to Nas' limited commercial success is that he also has a soul.

It's interesting to consider the balance between integrity and intelligence, if you're smart, you know you could forsake your integrity for some of that grrrrreat "success"
but if you're that smart, chances are you have even more integrity.
Still, I can't help but wonder if dilemmas like this that get you stuck in a loop - if they ever reach a conclusion after you consider every ramification.

being smart makes the loop longer than if you were stupid, but they could both end up with the same conclusion and even the same results.
What I'm saying is pretty unimportant, but pretty much all I can think of worth saying after iTechs post

Check this shit out;

http://www.youtube.com/ontherise

It will stress the points I made in this post.
Who is the hip-hop king of Youtube? Technique. Who's the best MC out there, that has won over 70% of battles, and can rhyme about things more important than flashy jewels and how cool he is? Who could mop the floor with every single soulless puppet of a rapper out there, both lyrically and physically?

Face it; "when it comes down to Technique, he wins." ?

Youtube is saturated with user-made videos featuring Technique, who himself has only released two *real* music videos himself (Treason & Sleep Is The Cousin of Death).
The song "Bin Laden", which was made 100% independently BTW, which features a user-made videoclip containing only text, has gotten atleast 582,545 views (that's half a fucking million)
Pretty good for a person that has never signed a recording contract and is self-published (he is the VP of his record label).

Now, how much do you wanna bet that he will be completely ignored and some suburban white (possibly Jewish) kid is gonna win that contest with rhymes about how his dog is gay and his mom is a crack whore that snorts urinal cakes? Or some slim ten-pound black nerd waving guns at his aunty who dressed up like a nun for the occasion, screaming "I kill all them beatch-ass hoes with mah cap irons!" while his father comes in and beats the crap out of him for insulting his elders.

I know I'm biased towards Technique, but I truly believe no other rapper has dared to say the shit he has, at least not as direct. Who else claims he will behead the president, shoot him and take over the country, calls his daughter alcoholic sluts, threatens to put a tazer against the roof of your lawyer's mouth and electrocute him, murder a crooked cop's children, hijack a plane and fly it into your house, destroy your religion, shoot the new 'Nazi' pope in church ... and actually mean what he says?

What shitty website do I have to go to to play this stupid "Shoot The Rapper" game?

I don't expect the game to be good, but how can anyone pass up the opportunity to shoot ¢50 in the face?

Edit: A bit of googling reveals that this game does not, in fact, give one the opportunity to "shoot" said rapper with a gun, so fuck it.

"Propaganda".
A very good song, which I originally thought featured Technique (I kept waiting for him to step in, but he never did).
Dead Prez is definitely very good, but they are one half an abstraction layer above The Truth compared to Tech. Tech would just say it more directly and aggressively without wrapping it up in satire to hide it from casual listeners (Not that Dead Prez do that a lot). I imagine Nas, Tupac and Public Enemy (and to a lesser extent Dead Prez) to be one of those medieval satirists that would climb up a box in Town Square and tell elaborate stories with animal analogies that convey a hidden revolutionary message to townsfolk ("The Clever Fox kills The Old Bear who was stealing The Chicken's eggs" or some shit like that could be used to communicate that the king was demanding too much taxes from the people and should be killed). And Technique as the guy that simply climbs up on the church's belltower and yells "The King Ate My Goddamn Eggs, Lets Behead Him!" at the peasants.

I won't say I can listen to "artists" like Eminem, 50 Cent, Ja-rule, Jay-Z (who *must* be The Antichrist), Dre or any other commercial crap out there (except Tupac, who was very commercial, but never sold his soul IMO) without spontaneously dissolving into a pile of excrement.

God damn iTech, every post you make I find it hard to reply to, you seem to get all the conversation done yourself

All I can really say is I don't have a preference between the metaphors/analogies and the more straight forward language, only real difference is one will be played on the radio without those pesky lyrics distracting people from the beat.

Jay-Z eh? my pick would be Ja rule
