Hey, just finished softmodding my Wii and PSP and thought I'd knock the DS out while I'm at it
grog.gif

1. Is there any chance of the Acekard bricking a DS Lite?
2. Are Acekard FW updates necessary for future DS games?
3. Have any games been known to cause issues for the Acekard?
4. Any quality loss between playing my genuine DS games and their backups?

Thanks!

1. No. Not unless you decide to flash your ds and your ds turns off while flashing(in which case it wouldn't be the Acekard's fault). But flashing your DS isn't neccessary.
2. Yes.
3. A few have.
4. Sometimes, rarely though.

1. No, unless you do something stupid
2. Yes, if you want to play them
3. a few, because of new anti-piracy measures

1. Is there any chance of the Acekard bricking a DS Lite?

Yes. There are a few ways, but as long as you only download stuff from GBAtemps uploads, you'll be fine.

2. Are Acekard FW updates necessary for future DS games?

Well, that depends. If a new game has problems, there will most likely be a loader update released, which is easy to update to.

3. Have any games been known to cause issues for the Acekard?

In the newest loaders, no.

4. Any quality loss between playing my genuine DS games and their backups?

No.

Thanks!

People have not been entirely sincere, as there is some difference still. Some games will not play as smoothly as they should (GTA) and you will get some slowdown with certain games (Nanostray, Metal Slug 7 come to mind). Of course, things are getting better as time goes on. It may also be Micro SD related.

Hmm, that's a little worrying. Is there slowdown even with a class 6 micro SD? Or is it the Acekard itself? I don't know the data transfer rate of a legit DS cart, or the Acekard...

Class is just write speed of the card, so this is not the most important factor. Read speeds and random access speeds are vital. In fact it's difficult to say for sure, which cards are definitely better than others. You should be fine with a branded msd, like Kingston or Sandisk.

And btw, slowdowns happen on all flashcarts, so this is not the reason not to buy an Ak2i.

That has been fixed. If you still suffer from lag, I suggest you get a micro sd with a faster read speed than 512kb/s.

And which one would that be? Right now I use Sandisk 1GB and 2GB, both have slowdown in Nanostray & Metal SLug 7. These two games have slowdown on the original cart as well, but it's definitely a step worse on the Acekard.
