As many of you already know, various sites for modchips, etc. have been raided by the Federal Government in an attempt to crack down on piracy.

I recently ordered an R4DS from revolution-sales.com, which was defective, and I mailed it back for a replacement. I was going to use the R4 STRICTLY for homebrew (IRC and moonshell mostly).

They have received my defective product, and I know from the tracking number on it, but I have no gotten an e-mail back from them, even after I emailed them regarding my R4.

Now, on their site, all modchips, as well as DS homebrew enablers (like my R4) are not listed.

This leads me to believe they have been raided (Hawaii was in the list of states where raids occurred, and revolution-sales is in Hawaii).

So I was wondering what my course of action should be, and if anyone else knows if any other sites have been raided.

they raided because those companies were shipping over seas like in the UK where it is illegal to sell/own a modchip of any kind. So you piss off big companies over seas you are bound to get dealt with.

Aw man.....I just hope the place I just ordered a certain flashcart from isn't one of the places that have gotten (or will get) raided. I still have at least 2 more to order for friends within the next month or so. I just made the order for one of them about 3 days ago.

I won't mention where I ordered from just in case the government bastards are reading. [IMG]

Yes, I know flashcarts aren't the same as mod chips, but the government bastards don't care about such trivialities when they shut a place down. They're not happy unless they are the only ones getting everything for free. Because you KNOW half the "evidence" they collect will go in their greedy bastard pockets and into THEIR kid's hands. If you don't know that, you're a noob.

I have a brother who married a daughter of one of them government bastards. He's retired now and he laughs about all the goodies he's confiscated over the years.

actually, any sites, stores, homes, etc that were raided lost possession of just about everything tech related. (they may get back some of it after the feds have gone through everything, but from what I've heard, they came and swept through places taking computers, systems, controllers, chips and anything else that looked vaguely electronic in nature.

Flash carts shouldn't have been taken, as they don't violate the DMCA. The DMCA bans anything bypassing copyright protection, such as region detection. The DS and GBA don't have that, so the only thing there that'd they could go after are direct bootlegs of games.

Then again..they are going after boot discs, which don't violate the DMCA...:/

The point is though that any place that got raided will be effectively shut down.

How many sites thus far have been confirmed to be raided?

And are they going to go after the buyers, or just the distributors, like they do with torrented games?

i think its mostly distributers. GP2XStore has been raided as no flash carts are sold anymore.
