Gaming Fat PSP freezes on firmware update.

I have a fat PSP running 3.52 m33 and no matter what, every time I try to update the firmware, it freezes at a black screen and powers off after a few seconds of running the update (from 3.60, to 3.71 and so on) and I need to start in recovery mode to get it working again. How can I get around this? >.

Are you running a custom theme? You need to make sure everything is at default when you upgrade to prevent compatibility issues. You can try to run the Recovery menu then flashing the flash0 then running the update again.
