And let's not talk about the innocent protesters that were taken by the police under the "suspicion of terrorism", they were held (some still are) with literally no proof or any other solid basis for prosecution. It was illegal abduction and they had to be freed once enough people made noise, and that's just a small taste of what they would love to do. They're just testing water.

A shame the big knowledgeable dudes have been silent for so long, I guess it's not looking too good.

These photos are the second day in a row that the national government sent police forces to repress retired elders who are asking for their pensions to get a raise because their purchasing power is being nuked. All the government is saying is "in USD they're earning more", ignoring the cost of living went up like crazy in USD and health insurance for elders have been cut a lot, so not only is everything more expensive but they also have to pay an insane amount of money for medication. My grandma is spending almost 60% of her pension only on meds.

The president just told the scientific system to stop trying to live off the State, that if they think they deserve funding they should go for private funding. In other words he doesn't believe the State should fund science at all. Very smart dude, I'm sure the biggest countries in the world do the same.

Went up, it's hard to know exactly because we have a high % of informal jobs but between 55/70% it's all possible. Btw all this I've been showing is because retired folks are asking for a 10usd raise for their pension, and the government is refusing because after all the shit they did their fiscal balance depends on keeping the retired poor.

Yes, I agree. That is a thing to lament. Not that it was different with the previous government, specially regarding the manipulation and pressure over the news media. One with some memory could remember things like the continuous threats of Guillermo Moreno from 2010 onwards to Papel Prensa, in one ocassion he coming to an assembly meeting with a some boxing gloves (or was it a gun, or was it both?).

The tendency to authoritarianism was worrying specially back then, but it still is today.

He’s actually doing a more outstanding job than anyone could’ve predicted, me included. I fully expected the period of total chaos to last 2-3 years, maybe even more than that, but we’re seeing really good results within just the first year. I wish Argentinians all the best and hope that they will stay the course in spite of their current hardships. I’m afraid they’re unavoidable if they want their country back on track, as I said countless times before.
