See this guessing wouldn't happen if the g6/g6lite people new better english.

For the love of god, we need some concrete answers.

Innocent until proven guilty.

I see no evidence saying the G6 Lite battery is not recharable. The G6 package says 'Rechargable battery design' and that's the only evidence I've seen.

I don't think that the fact that someone hasn't recharged their battery for 1-2 months means that it never has to be charged. My old EFA cart would last a few months between charges but it still required eventual charging. I think it would be safest to leave it hooked up to your PC over night every 1-2 months.

As for turning your DS off and then on, I just use the soft reset to the main menu every time I finish playing a game and then I can avoid switching on/off multiple times.

While this might be true (or false), in average use, it won't be an issue either way. Also, you're not conserving battery power by soft resetting. It takes the same power to store a 0 as it does to store actual data.

Contrary to popular belief, the G6 battery isn't a rechargable battery. My guess is that the manufacturer thought it would be a good way to promote the product. It is a standard watch battery that maintains the SRAM when not in use. The "documentation" provided by the G6 team is incorrect.

Also, the G6 Touchpod menu battery display is not of the internal G6 battery, but rather the DS's battery.

I hope this clears up a few things.

Why guess? I just asked directly at the G6 website and received a quick reply from Danny. The battery is indeed rechargeable and is a CL1220. That's a Panasonic/Matsushita rechargeable lithium ion coin cell. It is recharged any time the G6lite is receivng power while powered up in the DSL or on the USB UDisk.

I agree about the G6 Touchpod battery display that it merely displays the same DSL battery status you get on the DSL LEDs. Either a picture of a battery and 4 yellow bars for a charged DSL battery (green light) or a picture of a battery and a charger plug for a DSL battery that needs charging (red light).

Closest to it via mindless searching on electronics message boards + mouser.com is the VL1220-1HF, which is indeed a rechargable cell. At a capacitance of only 7 mAh, who knows how long this really lasts. The only way to actually test this is to not use the G6 for an extended period of time. The hole in that test is that once you actually turn it on again to see if it lost the save or not, you are effectively recharging.

My original statement is indeed wrong based on Rykar's "bullshit" evidence he so graciously provided, but I still believe my second to be correct. There is no need to go out of one's way to try to charge the battery.

But it saves that extra step and possibly saves the DS from extra wear. I also feel more secure that my save has been recorded on the cart and isn't sitting in the sram. I don't do it to conserve battery power.
