Pretty bad news for Facebook users. Personally I'm not a fan of Facebook, so I don't give two craps about this news.
Also, the part that I underlined/bolded, am I imagining things, or is that just a long way of saying "everybody"?

Ehh, stopped using Facebook recently anyway. The new thing where pages that make posts about other pages that you like showing up in your news feed just completely kills it for me (Like some Walking Dead memes page that I don't like making posts about the official Walking Dead page, which I do like, and then it shows up in my news feed regardless). Especially since there's no way to turn it off.

Facebook is only going to keep going downhill from here honestly.

This is probably just saying it will take your profile information and decide which of those 4 categories to dump you into and then show you only ads targeted at your particular group.

Anyway, this kinda sucks. On some screens that's gonna amount to a 90% of the screen is ads (video ads that older computers can't handle) and a small strip of text you're actually interested in in the middle (worse if your window's not maximized.)

Xuphor, are you familiar with how adblock works? It can block individual files, folders, entire domains, or based on keywords and wildcards. All at the same time. That's how it can block ads (based on the ad server addresses) while not blocking other things.

Adblock plugins are already perfectly capable of blocking background advertisements.
