I borrowed this not long ago and have been gettng well into it. It's not without it's problems and it's boring to begin with but once it gets going it's a pretty gripping game. I've now managed to pick one up for 15 quid so I think I might actually invest in an expansion pack. Has anyone bought any of them? If so, what are they like? Do I need to buy one before the others or can I just pick any? And finally, if I can just pick any then what's everyone's opinion on what the best pack is?

I've played every fallout: Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, 3 and even the brotherhood of steel for PS2.

I've even played Arcanum (the best game ever) with a similar isometric engine to the first two Fallouts.

I would recommend every one (exept, possibly the PS2 garbage)

Don't be concerned about order, except play 1 before 2. But that's it.

If you can wait till November theres gonna be a Fallout 3 Special Edition that includes all the dlc and the game for $70 rather then $60. Good deal considering each pack is about $8. I think there also doing two packages via retail that have two packs in each. The only one I played has been Operation Anchorage. Its okay. Maybe not worth the money unless you really love the game. If your gonna buy 1 dlc get Broken Steel. It continues the story (yes you have to beat the game first) and raises your level cap.

You should play it, it blends RPG and FPS really well. It's got some pretty annoying bugs in it (probably in both the 360 and the PS3 versions) but it's a damn fine game. Great story, quite alot of depth and it's pretty fun. Lugging around the Wasteland is pretty boring at first but once you've opened it up a little and got the story going it's pretty good.

You may need DosBox for 1 & 2. I would actually recommend Arcanum more than anything tho.

No time to play it, btw its weird but I'm trading it tomorrow for Street Fighter 4 xD
Nothing to do with the topic btw xD

It's just that the game looks to long and looks like resident evil in some points which I dont like.

Nah, it's nothing like Resident Evil. It's more like a post-apocolyptic Bioshock and even that's not describing it very well.

More like Post apocalyptic Oblivion. I just beat it a couple days ago.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion are pretty much the same game in terms of gameplay. Oblivion is SO much fun. It gets addicting.

Except that I found Fallout 3 to be really boring while Oblivion is one of my favorite games.

Love Fallout 3, can't believe you've waited so long to play it. I've played through twice on Xbox, now it's on my PC ready for a third if I get around to it. Though if that special edition comes out on PS3 I'll get that one because I've heard the dlc is sweet.

Oblivion IS very similar in gameplay, but I couldn't get into it. That game is huge. Give me some Morrowind though and I'm set...in fact I might have to dig out the ol' xbox brick and play that. [IMG]

Heh, I'm a cheap bastard and my Xbox ain't flashed so I'm always late to any 360 game party! My nephews mate had it and didn't like it so I asked to borrow. He offered it to me for 15 quid last night so I took it. There's a few faults with it, and it's annoyed me to the point where I've just said "Fuck you with your bugs" and switched it off, but I've still gone back to it. lol I'm trying to get hold of Left 4 Dead and Modern Warfare cheaply as well but they're both still 25-30 quid each.

I didn't get the ebay one earlier, kinda glad now that you mention the GOTY edition comes with both exp packs as it was only the regular version. Cheers mate, I'll make sure it's the GOTY edition.
