Mine never did that. It might be a false positive. I have an incredibly overprotective Avira and MS Security essentials. Nothing went off. Plus, I don't think Nintendo would have viruses on their servers.

It's a false positive, calm down.

It's not the firmware, it's ONLY the downloaded files when you update the 3DS. It doesn't even contains all the firmware data, only modified files since the last update.
It's illegal to package and redistribute these files, if you want these files then you can download them yourself directly from Nintendo Update Servers (yes, you can download directly from a computer).

Please do a search before posting, it's an old news and has been wrongly reported few times already.
