Yesterday the EZTeam made a tentative release of the v106 firmwares for the EZ5i to allow it to work with DSi consoles with version 1.4.3 (iQue DSi users do note 1.4.3c appeared when 1.4.2 appeared so that has been supported for a while). During testing there were some bricked carts but since release there have not been any reports of any but none the less unless you are at DSi firmware 1.4.3 or really want to use it then we suggest you stick with v105. The last flash cart blocking effort on the 3ds was taken care of with v105.[/p]

Change log (v106):

DON'T RENAME THE FILE BEFORE YOU UPDATE THE FIRMWARE
THE FIRMWARE UPDATE FILE MUST BE PLACED ON THE ROOT OF MICROSD

V106 firmware update will wipe out and reprogram the whole bootloader, it needs the EZ5Fm106.nds keeping original file name to be the reprogram data source.
rename the file will cause reprogram process fail and your flashcard bricked.

A video of the update thanks to Mbmax (it is longer than previous updates as it reflashes the entire device)

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
