EZ5i kernel 3.0 OB4 released 24th December 2010
Game type fixes.

The EZTeam have released OB4 of the EZ5i 3.0 kernel, it is only for the EZ5i (the rest of the EZ5 (EZ5, EZ5 NYE and EZ5 plus) line will have to wait a bit longer- no ETA). Much like the rest of the 3.0 kernels your EZ5i will need to be on firmware v101 to be able to use this.

Works on special mode, but it's slooooow.

I thought these things were going to be fixed.

As stated by Mbmax in both the kernal thread in the EZFlash section, and on the EZFlash forums, they are working on fixing all the older games that lost compatibility. The team just released this now to make the Christmas date for it. They're still working for more fixes.

I suppose I have to continue saving every 30 seconds.

Where'd you're random freezing start? I'm just starting the game out, and I'll let you know if I have any issues.

You should "trekking over and scouring Akihabara" as you said in your thread.

A friend of mine from Japan told me that those 8GB silicon power class4 are good for only 15$ in there.

BTW, GS doesn't require anymore to be launched in special mode. Just disabled it.

I did disable it of course.

The freezes aren't as common as they were, but they still happen, maybe once every hour or so of game play. It's totally random seemingly.

I had assumed with the new kernel that this problem was solved, and stopped saving every few minutes. Lost a good hour of progress. I just turned off the machine in disgust.

I haven't had a chance to play it any longer than twenty minutes or so. Something about having kids takes a lot of time away from games. Anyway, if I get a freeze, I'll let you know. I know you're probably the last person that wants to hear this, but it could be something with your memory card. I know the EZFlash Vi can be finicky with certain cards. Like I said, I'll let you know if I get any freezes, thus determining if it is your card or not.

Played for a couple of hours yesterday with no freezes, which is way longer than it did in special mode with the last kernel.

That means I've only had the one freeze since the new kernel was put on. Hopefully that was an anomaly.

Still miffed Animal Crossing doesn't work! My town has likely gone to hell in the two months since I last played it.

That workaround is awesome! I had no idea I could do that, but it definitely saves the cart for me. Being able to jump one kernal to the other is awesome. I had been swapping them back and forth through my computer, and this just makes it so much nicer.
