It looks like the SD card file system has corrupted, causing the ROM file to be unable to load correctly, please scan the SD card with a disk utility or reformat the SD card after backing up the save file.

the sd card is fine, formatted to exfat and cluster size set to 64kb (as recommended for 64gb micro sd) and my roms are also fine. i checked and it runs gameboy color games, but not gameboy advance.

Another possibility, do you have many nested folders for sorting ROMs? If the total number of characters in all folder paths, including the total number of characters in the ROM file name, exceeds 128 characters, it may also cause read failure.

64kb cluster size is for FAT32 I believe, exFAT uses an entirely different set of (much larger) cluster sizes.

ive kept the characters and number of sub folders minimal so that cant be causing the issue

i believe the issue comes down to the firmware, the kernel can downgrade but firmware seems to stay on fw9 (unless you cannot downgrade firmware versions and im being an idiot)

Dunno, I usually just leave it on default for exFAT, I think it's less of a factor because the cluster sizes are so much bigger.
And I use SDFormatter.

have tried this on multiple sd cards(32gb, 64gb), same issue occurs but only with .gba files, everything else like .gbc works fine

If GBC games can start normally, it means there is no problem with PSRAM. Otherwise, you will encounter a white screen。 Get stuck on the LOADING interface. Usually the kernel is stuck in the process of reading ROM files.

Or try writing the game to NORFLASH and booting it from NORFLASH to see what happens.

I'm assuming it's also possible to get stuck in the LOADING screen too.

gba games (other than pokemon, resulting in a white screen) load fine on norflash. i installed simple kernel and when loading games from sd card it gets stuck on "Copying rom..."

So is there no solution to this issue? I'm just not ever going to be able to play gb or gbc games on this cartridge... forever stuck on that white forsaken screen.

Can I ask why I can't access gbc game ? I have installed the latest firmware on the web. I use DE and the 16gb card that came with it.

I have the same issue. I can fit a few games in NOR and they all work fine from there; they just don't work when loading normally, directly from the card. There is also so S98 error with my EZ-Flash Omega DE. Don't know what to do now.
