EZ flash Omega - states not working

I can't seem to get savestates to work at all in any game I test. The rts file is created, but it seems that nothing is written to it when I save. Loading the state doesn't work either.

Games I've tried:
Pokémon fire red
Pokémon emerald
Monish cap
Meteoid zero mission
Metroid Fusion
Doom
Castlevania circle of the moon
Kirby nightmare on dreamland

Platform: DS

In the settings I have savestate, fast patch engine, English and rtc enabled. Everything else is disabled.

I've tried booting with addon normally, as well as writing the game (with addon) to nor and booting that way.

I've updated the kernel to the latest version as well.

I've tried multiple SD cards, all formatted to fat32, 32kb cluster.

Any advice on getting this to work would be great.

1. Verify the roms with online data base to ensure they are clean rom.
2. Try to uncheck the fast patch engine.
