I have an external hdd showing the wrong amount of free space. this happened while creating a windows disk image. that ended up failing. it said there wasn't enough free space, but there should be at least 300GBs of free space with a 200GB disk image. the space that existed before running windows backup was not returned to me. there is no windowsdiskimage folder. can anyone help?

Try to upload an screenshot from the System Disk Manager.

You can try AOMEI Partition.
Look for MiniTool Partition Recovery - maybe not needed -.

that's actually what I tried. I ended up formatting, 'cause I think it was some sort of glitch involving windows disk imaging. I just made a successful disk image, so now I'm putting everything back. I backed up all of my hdds four times, so I can get it back within a day or so.
