I tried a Iomega 2,5 external HDD 500GB.
The games started but stop within the first minut to play, the wii hangs and the only thing I can do is reset.

A 4GB USB-stick works very well.

What's the best thing to buy? A 2,5 or 3,5 external HDD?

The Iomega is on the compatibility list and is noticed to work perfect, but did not at mine (yes, for less than a minute ...).

I use USB Loader GX rev 850.
With the USB-stick, there's no problem, just the iso-files on it and it works.
And yes, I formatted the usb-stick and the iomega-drive with WBFS Manager 3.0

Do I have to install it? Is placing the iso-file on the disk not enough?
With usb-stick: it works and with iomega-drive: it stops within the minute.

3.5 Seagate upto 500GB sata. Buy an external powered houseing for it.And make it up yourself.
That way you dont void warranties because you might of had to take an external hard drive apart to put it in your comp to format it

First i advise to update to rev 883 since its the most stable (well the newest most stable one)
second just to make sure right click on harddrive click proprieties and see if its wbfs just to make sure
to install games you need to use wbfs plug you drive load then right side browse select the wii game then add to drive
what games r you trying to play because some needs alt-dol method

HDD 2,5 is the BEST.
Why? Because, 3,5 needs a external power supply and also, you will have some interferences in your TV screen.

HDD 2,5 offers low power supply to work, small and easy to carry.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
