Ok, the PSP still has atleast another year of life in it with a few good games, so check them out.
It even looks like there might be more games than in 2008 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":O" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
Videos are in the spoilers. Some of them are a bit long, forward in a bit for gameplay.
And without any further ado, enjoy:

Square Enix

An improved port of the second Star Ocean game for the PSX, with better graphics, voice acting and anime cutscenes. I loved the first one, hope this one is even better <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yaypsp.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yaypsp:" border="0" alt="yaypsp.gif" />

Developed by the same studios who did Syphon Filter for the PSP, Retribution takes place between Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. It's said to have some of the best visuals on the PSP, and it has some special connectivity features with the PS3, such as PSP Plus, which allows you to play the game with a Dualshock 3 and some other features, and "Infect your PSP!", which opens up an alternative campaign in the game, which when finished, unlocks extra weapons for the main campaign.

Apparently Sega think they're funny by making PSP for the PSP <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Anyway, this game looks damn great, it continues in the Phantasy Star Universe's universe <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> , with a story mode and a multiplayer mode with support up to 4 players (local only, unless you have a PS3 to run Adhoc Party, or use Xlink Kai). I'm just as surprised as you are, Sega/Sonic Team has actually made a good game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

The Super Smash Bros. of the Final Fantasy universe, this game pits the heroes and villains from the first Final Fantasy all the way to the eleventh one. A fanboy's every dream, this game has amazing visuals and battle scenes, and is a <strike>must-download</strike> must-buy when it comes out.

Q-Games | Sony Computer Entertainment

A Tower-Defense inspired game originally on the PS3, the game will be making its way soon on the PSP, so you can get your fix on the go. The game is highly addictive (I can attest to that myself), might be a dangerous thing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

Another classic game for the PSP, Patapon is back! New to this version is multiplayer mode, more units and characters, and who-knows-what-else.. As long as it's good as the first one (or even better), anything is OK with me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Final Fantasy Agito XIII: The third pillar to the XIII universe, not much is known about this game except that it takes place in a school, and you use cards in battle. Previously for phones only, Square moved it to the PSP. Hopefully it doesn't make it any worse..

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep: Another Kingdom Hearts game, this one is a prequel to the first KH. It uses Crisis Core's graphical engine as well.

DiRT 2: While the original DiRT didn't make its way to the PSP, the sequel will. The game got high praise for its fun offroad driving gameplay. Hopefully it will do as well on the PSP.

The 3rd Birthday: The third Parasite Eve game, little is known about this one too, and this one was previously a phone game too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Gran Turismo 4 Mobile: To be released sometime this decade?

Hope you enjoy! Any feedback, or games I missed is welcome <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'm liking the look of a lot of those games, and there seems to be more announced each week that are worth looking forward too.

I doubt the PSP sales will improve that much but I do reckon it'll be steady.

Star Ocean 2 was a PS1 game, by the way. Only the first SO was on SNES. =P

I'm personally waiting for SO2, Dissidia in a way, Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce, and Warriors Orochi 2 if they ever get it over here...

Unite is the US version of MHP 2nd G, right?

I'm pretty sure that's just Freedom 2 with extra features, I wouldn't call it a third iteration. More of an expansion pack.

Well, in a nutshell...

DW (and its sister franchise Samurai Warriors) takes place during the Three Kingdoms era of China (with SW taking place during the Warring States era of Japan). It is classified as a beat-'em-up given how you control one character and quite literally cut a bloody path through hundreds of peons and other units. You can use and face off against historical heroes like Cao Cao, Lu Bu, and Zhao Yun, and there is a campaign that (depending on the game) follows either one of the three kingdoms or that one particular character. Not a series for those who want historical accuracy, but hey, style goes a long way these days. A good example idea is here, complete with ridiculous cutscenes. :3

On the PSP, there are two Dynasty Warriors games and one Samurai Warriors game, though they are a little different than their console counterparts. They combine a minor strategy game with the traditional gameplay. There's also Warriors Orochi (and its sequel currently only in Japan) which is a port of the console version, and was my first foray into the series.

Anyway, Strikeforce is notable because it's a PSP-exclusive, and it drastically changes the core gameplay of the series. I'm still waiting for them to announce Warriors Orochi 2 in English someday. =\

only problem with that game list is when will they get a english release date in the usa? i ain't interested in a game in japanese, half of these games don't even have a english release date anyway so no point mentioning them tbh.

I'm pretty sure those are all US games that'll be coming in 2009. Most of them have already been released in Japan. Read the thread instead of looking at the damn screenshots.

Personally, I'm also rooting for Ushiro. A Level5 RPG that looks A LOT like Persona and f-ing awesome.

I really want that game as well. I agree, it does look awesome.

I'm definitely going to play Phantasy Star Portable, Dissidia (in English), and DJ Max.

Great lineup of games.

One sad thing is, I already juiced out DJMAX 1/2/CE, Prinny (well still have Netherworld Official Rule to beat..), Hammerin' Hero (never expected this to get a US release), Phantasy Star Portable, Dissidia (nearly 100 hours playtime), and Patapon 2 (check out my full walkthrough =P).

I'm playing Loco Roco right now, gonna play LR2 once I finish LR1. And the only other game that interests me is Pixeljunk Monsters.
(PS3/360 has DW6, WO2, DW:Gundam 2, so I don't know if I want to play any more Musou games)

Praise the region free.
