EverDrive with modded Game Boy

I bought the EverDrive-GBA X5 Mini and X7, now I only need one compatible Game Boy and Game Boy Advance. I’ve read that normal ones work fine but that some modded models drain too much energy in combination with the EverDrive because of the IPS screens. My question is which models should I buy and are there any high quality sellers on eBay you can recommend?

I have a modded gba ips v2 and an ‘original’ 101. I have both of the screens in an sp and original version. No problems with everdrive or omega (original and DE).
I you use an GBA just buy some decent recharable AA’s.
