Nintendo has announced that Eurosport and Sky will be providing content to its new 3DS handheld console.

The content will be 'pushed' onto the system via 'SpotPass', which allows 3DS to receive wireless data even when switched off.

Sky's contribution will be limited to bitesize pieces of 3D content from its TV offering - but Nintendo Europe boss Laurent Fischer hinted that there may be more to come.

Fischer promised "many more potential partners" will arrive via SpotPass in future.

I wonder if America will get similar content at any point.

I'm not a big sports fan, but I could certainly deal with 3D (American or otherwise) Football.

eurosport is a great partnership for Nintendo, I am not into sports much but I can see this helping to sell huge numbers of systems. As for sky 3D, ...very pleased. What about those 3D movies though?

I hope you can specify what type of content you want it to download while off using this Spotpass thing. I don't want sports cluttering up the place.

    ?

Well, this is... really disturbing. If this thing is in it's box after I bring it home for the first time, will it automatically reach out for Wi-Fi? That sounds really... ergh...
