Have a new 3DS XL (purchased brand-new years ago, not used by anyone else) that I am interested in using as it is gathering dust. It is on OFW, not modded at all. The device boots up normally and scrolls the home menu, but trying to launch any application (cartridge game/purchased digital game/settings) causes the generic 'Error Message: An Error Has Occurred. Hold Down the POWER Button.'. Restarting the device brings it back to the main menu, where the same error occurs when trying to launch anything. Staying on the home menu for too long also triggers the error. Have tried taking battery out and putting it back in, and booting device with and without the SD card inside, the same occurs.
I am trying to determine what the issue is so it can be fixed. Online googling says it may be the WiFi chip moving away or needing replacement, as the BIOS is on the chip. I do not know much about internal hardware/errors, and I am trying to identify the error as I do not have any specialised stores near me that can identify the issue. If it is the chip, I can buy a replacement online and take it to a nearby tech store who are willing to solder it. Anything to help me identify the problem would be highly appreciated
