Yes I get where you're coming from but the error 162-3006 can't be fixed unless you can access your vWii or HBC first right? So it's not related until you get that sorted.
On another note looking at your report artisticMink I can't really read it until you get a SysCheck which shows the revisions of the IOS's you have installed. But I am researching the bricked vWii stuff fingers crossed something will turn up, but like I said you'll get a lot more answers making a new thread specific to your problems.

Steve

Thanks for the research.

We probably talk past each other. However, i don't want to hijack your thread. Though if i find a solution, i might edit a link into this post to give others a direction where to go, if google sends them here while looking for the same problem.

Ok so I'm running into the same issue with the 162-3006 error. I ran a syscheck and this is what I got.

If someone could get me pointed in the right direction that would be great.

I'm still around if anyone needs help we've been dealing with the harder problems above using PM so things are still being fixed.

I hope this is all helping people still. Happy New Year.

Hey guys, I have just joined the site, specifically after reading this thread. I could really use some advise/help.

Long story short I have not owned a Nintendo console since the N64 after that I switched to playstation/xbox consoles so I am a complete noob to the wii/wiiu. I wanted to buy one to play with my young daughter and teach her about some of the games/characters I loved growing up as a kid however I didn't want to spend a lot to get one so I looked online.

I bought a 32gb wii u Mario kart 8 bundle used for around 100 euros (European version/ I am an American currently living in Germany for work) but here was the catch it didn't let you update and gave you 162-3006 error code. I didn't really care so much at the time about online play so I bought it anyway, it came in the original box with all its accessories and looked new. It was also freshly formatted so I set it all up and tested all the functions, everything works perfectly and I can play Mario kart just fine however the second you connect to the Internet it prompts you to update and no matter what I try it gives me this error code, not only that but I can no longer play games without updating it so I had to format the console again and never connect it to the Internet so I can keep playing my games (very frustrating.)

After doing some research im guessing that the previous owner must have soft modded the console and accidentally screwed up somewhere causing this error. E verything on my wii u works fine, I can go to wii mode and it all works so I am guessing there is some hope that I could fix this somehow.

So my questions are as follows:
Do I have to softmod my wii u to run this syscheck and try to find this error?
To softmod do I have to install the homebrew channel on my wii u which means I also need to buy smash bros. brawl and 2gb sd card?
If yes, once I install homebrew what else do I need to install to make this work?
Will this all work on a European version of the wii u?
Once I get it to work can I post my findings on here for further advice?

Any advise or instructions would be really helpful. I just want to be able to update so I could play games with my kid. Thanks in advance for reading this and helping out a newcomer.

Hey Reptile718 soz for the late reply!

First up how far have you got?
Did you fix the problem?

Yes you have to softmod your WiiU to be able to fix it & to run any of these chacks.
Yes you have to install the HomeBrew channel but you don't have to use Smash Bros there are other games but that one works best.
Once you've got the Homebrew working look at the links at the beginning of this thread any probs send me a message.
I think (it's been a while since I did this) you have to make sure you get the right Smash Bros Brawl hack for European Wii console from the download site.
Yes post your SysCheck on here or to me & I'll read it & see if you can fix it all.

Before I do, can you post a current syscheck? Helps us see if anything else may be up. Am I correct in assuming your WiiU won't update?

Probably best you create a separate thread as well, this one is pretty old.

Will you able to supply the vIOS35 clean wad file? or will I need to create a thread?
Because I really wanna start playing games that require updating again.
Thanks for taking your time in helping me.
Sorry I dont have a clean copy of vIOS35 on hand, I would search for a previous thread and see if anyone has it on hand and PM them. If that fails, then make a new thread. Or hope someone sees this one and sends it to you.

Whatever, IOS15 I don't know why was there, but I removed it and it finally updated.
