I figured I'd get this stuff and learn to solder. Then I'd buy the equipment to build the programmer and get that done, and finally install the chip into my Wii. Here's the stuff I'd buy for soldering:

-15 Watt Soldering Iron, $8.99 at Radioshack

-Rosin Core Solder (1.5 ounces), $3.29 at Radioshack

-Flux (2 ounces), $5.99 at Radioshack

-30AWG Wire, $3.99 at Radioshack
I was wondering about whether I should get Silver Bearing Solder instead of the Rosin Core Solder. I'm a n00b so I don't really know. I have wire strippers already. I thought a clamp might be useful, but I can't seem to find that. Any suggestions?
Also, any suggestions on how I can save money on this stuff? When I add it all up, it seems kinda pricey...$31 seems like a bit much.
Also, what parts would I need for the YAOSM programmer and mod chip? Where should I order the stuff from? I was thinking about ordering from Mouser Electronics...I could probably get the soldering stuff from them too. Here are the parts I'm buying for the YAOSM and Programmer:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...ctId=2104052&cp
-Pre-drilled PCB
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...579-PIC12F629IP
-YAOSM PIC Chip
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...-UVR1E100MDD1TD
-Electrolytic Capacitor
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...0-CFS1%2f4C103J
-10 KOhm resistor
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...S1%2f4CT52R222J
-3x 2.2KOhm resistors
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...alkey512-1N4148
-Diode
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...lkey512-1N4734A
-5.6V Zener Diode
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...y571-1-390261-2
-2x DIP8 Socket
http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail...y737-DE09-SD-SL
-DB9 Female Connector
Not bad since it comes out to $2.95...though shipping at $6-$7 is kinda pricey.
The list of parts that I needed were listed in the "YAOSM from Scratch" pdf on the YAOSM forums. I'm not sure that I understand the diagram though...are there any other designs for the programmer? Or could someone explain it to me?
Also, would I just buy 2 of the socket used for the programmer, so that I would have one for the programmer, and one that I would solder to the Wii which would hold the YAOSM chip, so that I could remove it for programming?
Should I buy any extras of the parts from Mouser for the YAOSM? Like, just in case?
Thanks
