Now he's slinging insults. Big oof. You're calling her posts bland and blah blah blah. I don't know what you're expecting, but this particular case is concise and to the point. If that's boring to you, then that's just a personal problem. Also, is Fortnite not a game? So, adding a new subscription service isn't gaming related? I'd love to see the logic behind this one. Doubt I will though.

This is not what I want "games as a service" to be like, tbh. Hope when such a thing becomes more widespread it works better for the consumer.

Lmao a news post about a game you irrationally hate for being more popular than you (lets be real I assume that's not too hard regardless) doesn't make something not news. It's something the most popular game in the west is doing that's new, thus it's news. Doesn't take an idiot to figure that out but then here you are.

    All jokes aside...

How is this in any form advertising? I'm curious what you consider advertising, when the news is just informing people that one of the world's biggest games is adding in a new monetization feature. I don't like Fortnite, but I can't help that Fortnite also has an insane player population. Of children. What else has an insane user population of children? GBAtemp. It's my job to let people know the news, and hey ho, I did so.

I appreciate the compliment that I can write better articles in my sleep, thank you. But while I think it's major news, it's not much to cover, therefore the small article. I never try to put my own spin/views on news in the main content. I did mention the previous price of the old Battle Pass and its length, to put things in perspective in terms of price. Some people rely on GBAtemp's front page to keep up to date on news, and that's the purpose of this article. Simple.

Sure, okay, you want my logic so bad here it is, is it Nintendo or directly Nintendo tangential? If not, is it hacking related? Otherwise, is it relevant to gaming as a whole? if it fails all 3 checks it doesn't really belong on GBATemp. Fortnite is multiplatform so not directly Nintendo tangential, it's official content so not hacking, and beyond "Epic is being sleazy and playing mind games again" it's not relevant to gaming as a whole.

Chary can write cleaner, more informative articles than this in her sleep, I've seen it dozens of times now. If she's got a problem with that criticism then she should look inward. I didn't write it for her, and if she'd rather take it as an insult and get angry rather than praise of her previous work and a nudge to try harder that's on her.

Uhhh... You do realize this site hasn't been "Nintendo tangential" or strictly hacking in a very long time? If ever, really. I think it's cute you're huffing and puffing... But your logic is shallow and your argument is weak. There's tons of gaming related news that has been posted on this site for so long now that I have to wonder if you take the time to comment on all "non-Nintendo" news posts.

Again, Fortnite is a game. This news pertains to a change or addition in said game. It's gaming news. You don't get to gatekeep here.

Lastly, there's nothing wrong with her formatting in this instance. There's only so much substance you can add before it becomes needless filler. If anything, I applaud how short and to the point it is.

GBAtemp has and always will have a focus on Nintendo news, but we haven't focused solely on Nintendo news since...*looks at join date*....2014? So, uh. Yeah. We cover all gaming news...and have been for years now.

(Fornite is also on the Switch. You know, the Nintendo one...)

It's relevant to gaming, because no matter how much any one person hates Fortnite, or Tencent, or the dozens of sleezy things they do, Fornite still has more millions of people playing it. It's not my fault that it exists and is popular.

I'm...not angry, either? Just curious as to why there's such a strong response to it. I coulda waxed poetic about MTX or battle passes, but I think most of us wanna hop in, see WTF Epic messed up this time, hop out, get on with our lives.

I'm sure you know what belongs on GBATemp better than the Senior Editor of the site, though.

Oh, so now it's a problem that I haven't said anything before?

"tons of gaming related news (that doesn't fit those criteria)"
Let's see, Nintendo, Fortnite (this article), Nintendo and hacking, Nintendo, gaming as a whole, Nintendo, Debatably gaming as a whole (debatable, because TV adaptations of games are rare on one hand, on the other it's TV not gaming), Nintendo Tangential (through Goldeneye 007), Gaming as a whole, gaming as a whole, Nintendo, Doesn't belong on GBATemp(1), Nintendo, Hacking, Gaming as a whole AND hacking, gaming as a whole, etc.

Gatekeeping? To gatekeep I'd have to be able to ban Chary or delete the article, this is criticism. Tough to differentiate when you're on defense mode but not my problem. I'm not debating on it further, my logic is sound. Am I slamming my fists demanding it be deleted? No, I'm defending my opinion as my own, if having a conflicting opinion is bad, then fight me, don't want to fight? Then drop it.

I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree, honestly. I believe that general gaming news is always worth covering, Nintendo or not.

A little hypocritical, aren't we right now?
You made a claim with no evidence to back you up, and now *I* am the one jumping the gun?

No one was angry or pissed off, but you surely seem to be very defensive when cornered.

But I digress, there's no need to keep this argument going.

The news posts are not advertisement, unless clearly specified otherwise.
And surprise surprise, Fortnite is a big game, obviously it would be news everywhere, because again, surprise surprise, this is basically the point of the front page news posts.

I never called it an advertisement! I compared it to an advertisement yes, but I didn't call it an advertisement. Very key difference you're missing there. Literally not worth the effort if you can't tell the difference.

"I called something a thing, but that doesn't mean I meant to call that thing a thing!"

    Alright then. Keep backpedalling.
I think there's no need to keep wasting any more time on that tangent.

    Guys. Guys. Guys...

    It's GBAtemp. Not GBATemp.

That's the only input I have here because it goes without saying how silly it is to argue that this news that was posted by our senior editor doesn't belong on the site.

Old habits die hard. Gonna be difficult for me to change how I type the site name, but I'll try.
