Since I figured that installing the newest PreLoader is kind of a hassle, I tried to come up with an alternative way to get to the HBC before the system menu. Because HBC 1.0.5 is no longer compatible with PreLoader .29, I used Crazy Intro Video to set up another way to launch the HBC. Here:

CODE

So, simply put, pressing up on the d-pad loads HBC. Considering this is through a file set to autoboot, will this provide enough brick protection? If I were to completely brick my Wii, does anyone think this would be enough to reinstall or overwrite whatever I need to get my system menu working again? Or, could the file become corrupt somehow and completely lock me out?

You should have searched before you did crazy intro.

Not that it's bad or anything, but someone patched preloader so it loads the new HBC.

I know this already, I was just wondering if this would be sufficient enough to launch the Homebrew Channel and unbrick my Wii. I'd rather not go about reinstalling PreLoader.

timishu,

Honestly i wouldn't do it that way. The new preloader set to JODI is easy.

1. Download the preloader .29 JODI version from gbatemp.net
2. Copy hacks.ini to the root of ur SD card
3. Run preloader from HBC (make sure you rename .dol to boot.dol
4. It will install over your last one.
5. BAM easy it's installed.
5a. Install Bootmii as a IOS, if you can't do it with normally.
6. Now you can test it out, because with Bootmii being an IOS now, you can load it up via HBC, by pressing the home button in HBC and selecting Bootmii.
7. Good luck.

**note took 3minutes to do and it's like 95% guaranteed that you can recover**

Thanks for the advice, but I still have a problem. When I run the preloader .29 JODI boot.dol through HBC, all I get is a black scree. The only thing I can do is turn my Wii off. When I booted it back up, nothing changed. I was still running PreLoader .29, and I could still not load HBC. Is there a fix for this?
