'Elden Ring Nightreign' gameplay showcased in new 10-minute trailer

Ahead of Elden Ring Nightreign's release later this month, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have aired a new, 10-minute trailer. It showcases the gameplay and provides an overview of the systems at players’ disposal:

In ELDEN RING Nightreign, players must make split-second decisions about combat and exploration across a map that can fluctuate with different biomes, weapons, and enemies in order to become stronger, and outrun the encroaching circle of fire to be able to take on terrifying bosses at the end of each day. This culminates on the third day, where if players were successful in surviving the night must take on one of the Nightlords – new bosses for this version. Nightfarers must learn to cooperate to take down these challenges, combining their unique abilities together for an unparalleled experience in the ELDEN RING universe. All is not lost for those who fall in defeat. Unsuccessful runs will grant players relics to allow them to customize and upgrade their characters tailored to their personal play styles.

Elden Ring Nightreign launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on 30th May.

Somebody still cares about boresoils with ps2 visuals in 2k25?
Elden Ring just crossed 30 million sales a couple days ago, if that's any indication, so it seems you're one of the very few left too scared of its difficulty to try it.

i dont get the hype around elden ring. i played it for about 40hrs and was so bored and never found anything that made me want to continue playing it. its one of the few games i actually quit playing because i was so bored which rarely happens.

baldurs gate 3 was 10x more fun for me than elden ring.

Yeah it's not unreasonable to not enjoy a game, even if it is popular. I guess the larger lesson for yourself would be to try to recognise you're not enjoying it sooner so not to drag out the experience and potentially still get a refund (if playing on Steam).

A self-paced open world game isn't for everybody, certainly, but it's those aspects which gave it much broader appeal than the Dark Souls games. Nightreign might be more up your alley if you prefer constant engagement. I enjoy Soulslikes and roguelikes, makes sense that we're finally getting both in one.

Both deserved GOTY, if not GOATed status, and Expedition 33 is that game this year. Every subgenre of RPG is eating good lately.

The great news is that by the time you start to grow weary of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, the Switch 2 port of Nightreign should be out.
Yep sounds very likely to me ;)

The Switch, due to it's hybrid nature, has remained the console for me that gets me to play titles that would take quite some time at home. Sure we have xCloud and so on ... but still I always need to have a controller ready (do have one with me most of the time) and a decent connection (not always the case).

Im sure Switch 2 will make that even more so. And can only hope that Xbox might say; This is an Xbox now, like they do with everything (wishful thinking I know).

I haven't like these types of games for many years, but actually really enjoy Elden Ring, the world is quite well built, the music and ambience are incredible.

It is still very over rated though, it's very well made, but it is terrible in some areas (so is 1 1/2 to 2 decades old) for example.

Kiddos crying git gif, when the game isn't really hard, it's just lazy (no genuine difficulty, as there is no AI, it's just input reading and mother cheap gimmicks)

But like I said, I enjoy it, and the add-on. Really don't like the look of this though, it also has a few aspects which are extremely off-putting and weird choices (the coop restrictions)

Haven't played elden ring yet, but I'm all for asset reusing sequels. Save on dev time and cost
FromSoft really are the masters of making old assets feel new again, and then adding in some actually new assets on top as a treat. Even Margit has some new attacks from what I experienced in the Nightreign beta.

Not at all true, only a couple of bosses have noticeable input reading, and only when you're going for your healing flask. The simple solution is heal while they're still in recovery frames, or put an environmental object between you and them when healing. Beyond that it's just learning movesets and knowing when to dodge/parry on reaction, and I would agree that that's not particularly difficult. It's just a lesson in persistence.

Now if you wanna see what input reading really looks like, trying playing against a max level CPU in City of the Wolves.

Complaining about input reading is so stupid, because, yeah no shit a CPU will read your inputs, it's not a human, it can't physically react to what you do. If it couldn't read button presses it'd just be standing in front of you like a punching bag or do completely random and easily punishable moves. As long as it's believable and not a frame one reaction 99% of the time it's fine.

My gosh, is there one article on this site that gets a greater neutral-positive response than negative?

that and literally all fromsoft games are just reused assets but that doesn't really mean anything at all if you like the actual gameplay

it would be like hating on playstation for never changing their controller up just because you don't like the way the buttons look or something

The secret ingredient is having a mixer for the dough and a special pizza oven for the pizza - honestly it makes it easy.
trying to do it in a regular oven just isn't going to get you 100% there
but of course cost is an issue for most people. I use the pizza oven twice a week so to me it's worth it
