Hacking EFA vs ELink at DX

EFA is the "Simple" version (whatever that means) with no RTC apparently.

Which would you buy?

I have ordered the ELink only because i have owned an EFA in the past and wanted to try something new. But now im not sure .. I can still cancel hehe

Either is prolly a good deal at that price.

I'd go for the Elink. I has USB instead of the old ports that new PCs don't have.

I recently ordered the Elink because the color seems less horrible than the EFA. They appear to be similar in terms of features.

I ordered both, the elink has slightly better build quality. That's all I can say, because the EFA is DOA.

How do you like the ELink? .. The review here makes it sound pretty bad but none of the cons where real cons for me. Other reviews seemed pretty positive.

I think it's a great GBA only flashcart. Couldn't care less about RTC for pokeymans. It was an upgrade for my old EZ-Flash cart, and I like it better.

I think the review here is slightly unfair because it compares it to completely different tyoes of Slot-2 carts.

I ordered the EFA simple cart for twice the effin price at Jandaman.. super pissed....

Should work well enough. At DX one of the reviews says it messes up saves from time to time. Could be user error.

So what's the difference between the old and the new EFA Linker? From what I've gathered, the new one doesn't have RTC. Anything else? I've ordered one from DX as well after I'd read the GBAtemp review, not knowing that DX's version - I guess it's called EFA Simple - is different.

Look`s like the only difference - it`s really just RTC. Gonna check it, it`s already at my local post office. Too bad i`m at work everyday.

It'd be very kind of you if you could report back here once you've picked up your EFA. Mine's currently on the way from Hongkong. If it turns out that the 'new' EFA is a piece of crap, I could order an Elink from DX right away. Or finally settle for that EZFIV I've been dreaming of.

Another diff is you can only use older EFA software. 1.00 i believe.

sepinho: EZ4 Is great for GBA. I used to have one. I still prefer "real" GBA carts even thought the space is limited. Best deal i can see for the EZ4 is at Bamboogaming.com (currently down). Comes with a 1GB Kingston.

Got my Elink a while ago .. Was surprised to find lots of minor slowdowns in every game. Either i got a dud or they used some extremely cheap chips.

I have since sold it (for twice what i payed lol) and am waiting on the EFA now
