Hacking Educate me/us on Retroarch VITA

Hey - I've out of the scene for a while -
and I figured if anyone can answer some of the questions below it might help me and others.

Is this the latest version for the PSVITA retroarch found in this link?

Are there any better versions of PSVITA retroarch - such as modded ones by other users?

The current stable version is: 1.7.9 [v2]
does it add anything new or make any substantial changes to the vita version?


What is download stable or download nightly?

Any help or instructions to in how to keep up with the latest vita release
and how do users properly update their vita retroarch?

Latest versions of Retroarch (all formats) can be found here :-

Nightly builds have the latest changes and may have bugs that cause unwanted behaviour (glitches and crashes).

Stable builds shouldn't causes glitches or crashes whilst using them hence the 'stable' part.

I've used both but unless you have a need for/interest in updates for a specific core, I would avoid the nightlies.

The Retroarch_data folder contains amongst other things, icons for all the cores, game databases for all the cores, switchable video filters so you can change the way the games look (like a sharpness filter, scanlines filter for that CRT TV/Monitor like look) for example, audio filters to change the way the games audio sounds (boosting the bass is one example). They are a separate download from the cores because as far as I can remember they are not essential for Retroarch to work. They just seem to add extra functionality.

I used the main link in case they update Retroarch because your link would no longer go to the latest version.
