I am starting this thread to get a few questions answered about the possibility of this working.

*** Responses Not to Say ***
    1. This can't be done
    2. Do it yourself and go away
    3. Wait for someone else to do it, they always do
*** Those are not helpful ***

Here are my questions. PLEASE NO SPECULATION and add Citations
    1. Did Guitar Hero 3 install an update to the Wii so it could read the Guitars?
-If so, what is its name or IOS? And what commands did it add?

    2. Using a Hex Editor I have seen the commands in band_s_wii.elf that specifies other guitars and how to use them. Can the config for the commands to the Guitar Hero 3 Guitar be injected into this ELF file?

    3. A Homebrew App called Ocarina came out which acts like a game genie. Would this be a better way to implement the above instead of having people re-burn Rock Band with an updated ELF?

Well, I know GH:WT has Rockband instrument support, that's what I heard! But still, that would be neat!

Why don't you look at the open source projects that use the GH3 guitar and see what they reference?

Also, posting the elf in question might allow more people to help you.

lol, first time I heard elf for Wii homebrew I laughed.

But my cousin has a Rockband set and a Guitar Hero 3 guitar for Wii, so instead of getting a new guitar, a lot of people could use this.

Look at Guitar Fun, that uses the Wii Guitar.

Looking at the open source projects sound like a good idea. Also, should I post the elf?

    Yes, please do.

I don't want to have to download the entire Rockband ISO to modify one file.

you'd have to write a complete driver for it. there's no way to just edit a few bytes and make it work.

No one seems to have realised the Guitar Hero Guitars are just a classic controller in a shell.
