So using this method, I can hypothetically do this on my clean switch to edit my Pokemon save with minimal risk of being banned? I don't play online often, but I do buy games digitally so being banned from their servers would be a big bummer

So I just did this whole thing for Pokemon and it worked, so thank you for that! How has it been going so far? Still not banned?

Trying to do this on just one switch.
I have 'my own' method, let me see if this makes sense:

    0) Run game on clean nand to create A save file (no online access yet)
    1) Dump EmuNand to file and get the saves from it
    2) Open sysnand with HDM and copy / overwrite the clean save with the the save i just backed up
    3) Run clean nand and run game
    4) load game save
    5) save again ingame
    6) close game
    7) give internet
    8) be happy.

I feel this should be super safe, and its extremely easy.

You did this for the latest Pokemon? How did you know which save file was Pokemon? I'm struggling to find this lol. I used HacDiskMount to mount the partition and then used the extraction tool on all my save files but none of the files make any sense and I'm not sure how to find the Pokemon one.

EDIT: I've figured it out!! Phew :)

I used the extractnand tool to extract my save files, then compared to the save files that I had using checkpoint, and was able to then identify that the sword save file will have a file called 'Main'. And using that I was able to then know which game was Sword for me.

I just looked up when the file was created. I got the game on release day, 15 November, and there were two files that had that date. The one that's under 10MB is the one you're looking for

I can't hack my switch anymore, so I had to improvise a bit)

No, all switches involved in this method must be exploitable.

You could inject a save using an exploitable switch then transfer over using the official Nintendo save transfer method to a New Switch/Switch Lite however!

If anybody is having troubles signing their savegames with the latest version of hactoolnet (v0.7.1), the hactoolnet_native.exe from the v0.5.0 github release page worked like a charm for me! I was stuck for quite some time, but this is what made it work in my case :D

My CMAC signature always fails and I am using my prod.keys from LockpickRCM. I don't seem to be able to sign my save after as well. Any tips ?

Got it to work - the step that I missed was to make sure the sept folder from atmosphere was in the SD before I dumped my keys to make sure I got the master key up to 09.

Many thanks for your guide Kimbra !

I'm gonna try that. I have had some trouble signing saves too

Edit: it didn't solve the problem. I am trying to edit pokemon shield, and its not re-signing my files properly. Here is an image of my hactoolnet folder if this helps

Edit 2: Save file appears corrupted. Not sure if the reason I cant replace and fix it is because its corrupted or because I cant sign files. It's getting late, so i'll check on it tomorrow

Edit 3: Realized I was missing quite a few files, so that combined with Sh00tstyle's suggestion worked.

Made an account specifically to ask for help here. I used the latest version of hactoolnet (7.1) and also got the corrupt data issue upon restoring my NAND with a PKHEX'd Pokemon Sword save file, using 5.0 what other files did you add to that folder directory? Or is everything listed there the only stuff you used?

EDIT: It worked! The solution above worked wonderfully, thanks so much for the screenshot!

After reading some peoples comments about this, I should probably delete my SSBU save file on my OFW. Would Nintendo still detect the save was modified if I delete the save that I had transferred from CFW to OFW?

Just to clarify, I transferred the save from CFW to OFW but never went online with SSBU. Closest thing I did was update my OFW to the latest FW update.

Which comments? As far as I know no one has been banned doing this.

Suffice to say if you followed this method and haven’t been banned yet I suspect you will be okay.

Some people saying stuff about SSBU in the first page or something, but also I have been reading into transferring save from CFW to OFW using checkpoint mostly. I should have specified that.
