This is an easy way to hack any 3DS. This method allows you to use CFW, which enables cheats (You can get banned if you cheat online!) and the ability to put homebrew titles and pirated titles onto your HOME Menu. To hack your 3DS, simply follow these directions.

Step 1: Update your 3DS to the latest version.

Step 2: Download the correct zip file for your region and version and extract it to the root of your 3DS's SD Card.
    USA N3DS
    USA O3DS
    EUR N3DS
    EUR O3DS
    JPN N3DS
    JPN O3DS

Step 3: Go to https://zoogie.github.io/web/nbhax on your 3DS's web browser and you should boot into the Homebrew Launcher. (If it doesn't work the first time, then try it again.)

Step 4: Once you are in the Homebrew Launcher, select slotTool. Then select the Install Exploit to Wi-Fi slots option. Your system will shut down.

Step 5: While your system is shut down, hold down L+R+A+Up. While you are holding down these buttons, turn on your 3DS. Your 3DS should boot into a system update prompt. Accept the update. It will fail.

Step 6: It will give you an option to configure Wi-Fi settings. Do it. Then click on any one of the three Hax connections and go to Proxy Settings/Detailed Setup. Your 3DS should show the mini_b9s_installer screen. Press any button to close the installer.

Step 7: Open any app on your 3DS. While you are in the app, press L, Down, and Select at the same time. The Rosalina menu should appear.

Step 8: Scroll down to Miscellaneous Options and select the "Switch the hb. title to the current app" option. Save and exit.

Step 9: Press the HOME button and close the app you had opened. Then open the same app again. You should boot into the Homebrew Launcher.

Step 10: Launch the Rosalina Menu again the same way you did last time.

Step 11: Scroll down to Miscellaneous Options and select the "Switch the hb. title to hblauncher_loader" option. Save and exit the Rosalina menu.

Step 12: Open FBI. Once FBI loads, press A twice. Select the "Install and delete all CIAs" option.

Step 13: Go to your HOME Menu and select the Homebrew Launcher. Open slotTool. Select the Restore your Wi-Fi slots option.

Step 14: Turn off your 3DS. Hold down Start during boot to open the Luma3DS chainloader menu. Select GodMode9.

Step 15: Press the HOME button and go to Scripts. Select "Temporary.gm9" and unlock the write permission.

Step 16: Press the HOME button and select More/Fix RTC Date and Time. Put in the correct time.

Step 17: Press the HOME button and select Scripts/Control Script/System Backup. When the backup is finished, it is recommended to copy the SD:/gm9/out folder to somewhere safe, as you may need it in the future to fix your 3DS if anything goes wrong.

Step 18: You will now need to go to System Settings and set the time properly.

You have now successfully installed three titles to your HOME Menu: FBI, the Homebrew Launcher, and Universal Updater. FBI functions as a basic file manager and title manager. You can use this to install CIA files and to delete system apps (Not a good idea!). The Homebrew Launcher can run 3dsx files (such as emulators and unofficial games) that are placed in the SD:/3ds folder. Universal Updater lets you install homebrew apps directly from your 3DS. You've now installed everything you need to install to have a fully hacked 3DS. If you ever softbrick your 3DS, then you can usually fix it by opening GodMode9 (Accessible via holding down Start as you are turning on your 3DS), pressing the HOME button, and selecting Scripts/Control Script/System Restore.

NOTE: If you have any issues with this guide, please post them on this page so I can attempt to fix them.

NOTE: Plailect's Guide has now added this method, but I am going to leave this guide up, since I worked hard writing this guide. (And in my opinion, this guide is simpler than Plailect's Guide, since you only need to download one file.)

If you want to download pirated games, then Google "NAMEOFGAME CIA QR Code" and scan one of the QR codes on your 3DS with FBI/Remote Install/Scan QR Code.

NOTE: This is not against GBAtemp rules, as it does not directly link to any pirated content.

Where did you get that arm11code.bin? Because if it came from the 3DS or is the arm11 code from the 3DS, then that violates the Temp's TOS

Thanks for telling me, @DarkFlare69 told me as well. I’ve never seen that file before and google was like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ when I looked it up, so I was instantly concerned. Glad to see it’s harmless and part of the homebrew!

I was worried that it was the arm11.bin that you can dump from the 3DS and thus would have been official Nintendo code

What you mean is the boot11.bin, boot9.bin and the otp.bin. This is against (for the case someone uploads that here) the TOS.

Nintendo has made some pretty big headlines lately going after emu sites and so on. So yes, it is reasonable for a site to be concerned about distribution of their copyrighted code.

3DS systems are cheaper than Switch models, easier to hack, more accessible to those who don't live in regions that sells high end video gaming electronics, and is extremely versatile retro machine in what it can emulate or play. Unless someone manages to hack the entire line of Switch without a modchip (something like boot9strap or NXboot), the 2DS/3DS will continue to be widely enjoyed by the average gamer for years to come.

You really think that the Switch is a
?!? The only "high-end" thing Nintendo has ever had is prices!

Has anyone tried this method yet? ...with success? ..that never hacked a 3ds before too?
    I've never hacked a 3ds before, been using a sky3ds+ card.
Which works great, but have 3 2ds and only 1 skyds+ card.

    On the step about the Temporary.gm9;
Can I just delete the Temporary.gm9 from Hacks USA O3DS.zip before copying to the SD Card?

If you're worried, then as noted in the post, improvements will be forthcoming, so why not wait a bit?

Plailect's guide is going to be updated soon too, apparently.

I was implying for those who's standard of living does not afford them PC gaming or the latest & greatest gen consoles like the XBOX (i dunno what' it now, lost track how many X's Microsoft keeps adding to the damn name), PlayStation (4? 5?), and Switch, all they can buy is used or hand me down Nintendo DS or 3DS.

These would be your less well off, budget conscious, or patient gamers.

personally the only thing the xbone has is amazing online with it's obese fanbase that constantly play halo and call of duty which both suck balls as the xbone is a fps machine, the playstation while better is more catered for rpg enthusiasts which has good online but easily hackable servers if i bring your attention to when their servers got hacked. And now we get to Nintendo which I think falls into the nostalgia crowd no Graphic and frames per second whores who bitch about everything and are missing the big picture that they should be happy it runs at all on their machine of choice.

Mobile Phones don't count as consoles as they are PHONES it says in their name!

PC is pretty much where all games are made so i wouldn't go as far as all the master race bullshit but without pcs to programme/create all the games we play things would be much more different.

This guide, no offense, is not better than 3ds.guide. It's messy, lack of info, doesn't go over key things and would probably cause more problems then it helps
