Hi all

I am trying to have my Wii modded, but with so many guides other there on the web, and almost everybody using different ways and methods of doing it, for me its super confusing.

What I have done so far is

1. Enter the console MAC address on the hackmii website, and downloaded the package. Is this a must?
2. I then downloaded a HBC from some website and installed it fine.
3. Also downloaded IOS 236 and installed it too.

Is this enough for me to go ahead and install UBS loader GX in order to back up my disks?

Many thanks for your help.

No.
You are gonna need several other things, like cIos 248, 249 and 250.

Since you already have ios 236 as an entrypoint, you can just run syscheck, generate the syscheck.cvs and drag and drop it into modmii, it will generate all the files that you need.

Would you mind explaining how do I go about doing that?

I have generated the csv file just now....

Hmm, just went trough Modmii, and it never asked me to drop the csv file in it?

Thanks

Just follow the instructions in the ModMii_Wizard_Guide.html that it created in the copy to sd folder.

You can skip steps that are already done. Do make a nand backup; just in case you need to restore it. It's technically faster not to, but not worth it.

I don't think you need the csv file.

Sorry I forgot to mention...

After installing ios 236, I ran the d2x cIOS v7.

Does this install all the rest of the necessary cios?

I am running from memory, but yes if you used that then you could of installed it to slots 249 250 and 251, with bases 57,58,59.

If you have done this then that should be enough to get usbloadergx working to run backup games.

There are different versions of the cios d2x v7, v8, v9, v10, etc. Some have better compatibility than others.

If you follow the modmii installerguide I believe you get d2x v8. It will just overwrite whatever you had.

I believe I was not asked anything about 57,58 and 59 bases. I used V7?
Totally confused when it comes to this, I remember back in the days when Wii first got hacked, this used to be a lot simpler!

What would the next step be, how do I know whether I have installed everything correctly.
The USB loader GX seems to be working ok BTW, I have managed to do a back up of Mario Galaxy.

Thanks

v8 was the latest ones, but v7 would kidna do the job, download modmii from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/modmii/files/ModMii Installer.exe/download?use_mirror=cytranet

Thn install it, run the console version, not the gui one, then write, i agree.
enter SU.
Then just drag and drop your report generated by syscheck.

You can download syscheck here:
http://www.hacksden.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=149

Download syscheck, put it on you sd card, run it via homebrew channel.
It wll generate a report.

copy that report to your pc, and then drag and drop it to Mod Mii.

It will generate some files like this:
v3wx.png

Once it finish the download, just copy everything to your sd card, run multi mod manager, and isntall every .wad file [cIOS], and voila!

It's actually base 56, 57, and 58.

v7 is slightly outdated. I suggest using ModMii as others have mentioned, it will make sure everything's up to date.

Cheers Guys

Do you have to choose an option (letter) from the options given, before you drap and drop the csv file?

Reason I ask is, when I drag and drop, all I can see it detects the csv file path, and then when I press enter, program just closes and window disappears?

Thanks, I have done this, and it worked.

What I can see now on Wii, is a lot of IOS and CIOS files to be installed in many different folders. They are

App Manager
IOS Manager
WAD Manager
Manage Priiloader
Manage System Menu
Manage Wii Channels
Install and Patch IOS36
Remove Stubbed IOS's
Display Boot2 Info
Display Wii System Info
Load Another IOS (Current IOS 236 v65535)

Do I have to install all the CIOS from all the folders?

Cheers

EDIT: I realized that all the files are the same in all the folders, and have installed them all.

Did you press Right Direction to access wad manager? then it should list only 1 directory... you are currently just inside the app.

Thank you for your help, in order to reach this point.

I'd like to ask a few more questions.

In order to install loaders, or emulators on the Wii Channel? What do I have to do, they all show up in HBC channel, but how to get them to show on the Wii Channel?

You and many others inspired me on writing a tool for newbies.
