EA announces new Need for Speed game

Electronic Arts has just unveiled the next title in the long-running Need for Speed franchise. Titled "Payback", the game seems to have a little bit of narrative going on, as the trailer focuses on multiple characters talking about revenge. The press release also mentions that there will be three specific playable drivers.

Set in the underworld of Fortune Valley, players will drive as three distinct characters reunited by a quest for vengeance against The House, a nefarious cartel that rules the city's casinos, criminals and cops. They will take on a variety of challenges and events as Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman to earn the respect of the underground

Payback will be developed by Ghost Games, the team behind 2013's negatively received Need for Speed Rivals, but will also include staff members from the shuttered company Critereon, known for making the Burnout series of racing games. Need for Speed Payback is set to launch on November 10 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Burnout games are amazing, have burnout paradise on my PS3. Smooth 1080p 60FPS and amazing visuals. Not to mention it's online and is on steam. (btw gameplay is damn good).

Need for speed most wanted on ps3 was better than burnout paradise. I need to play burnout 3 again as that was always my favourite.

DQH1&2 didn't use "tricks" it was a straight downgrade of the PS4 counterparts.

Yep i mean, SquareE did a downgrade to put their game on it, they could've did tweaks also, but at least they offered their game, the same game, to all theses platforms, when you're EA, you can do that kind of stuff for the switch that had an AMAZING launch, escpecialy when you're realesing FIFA also on it, c'mon, show your full support, not just an half one, expect if you want to be called worst compagny ever one more time...

Yeah call EA worst company because they're making a healthy business decision. Putting all the resources into porting all of their games on the switch is dumb if they don't know if their games gonna sell. And 3rd party stuff on the Switch usually doesn't. The switch could've sold 10 million during it's launch and that would mean nothing to EA if people still didn't care about their games, which Nintendo fans are known for. Porting Fifa and other Sports games is their way of testing the waters. These games are very easy to port and the costs are minimal. If these underperform EA won't care too much.

You mean like Dekavita7? the 3rd Party accessory that allows you to play PS Vita TV in portable and then just eject the console part and play on TV.
Or PSP's HDMI out allowing you to play PSP games on the TV? Or the Nvidia Shield Portable's console mode? The only thing revolutionary about the Switch is that it has been marketed well.
I wouldn't know these things since I've never owned any of those.

so it's most definitly EA wants to go downhill to bankruptcy? man they took the staff of both the failures they launched at once... i don't know what prescription meds they use at EA... ah well it's hardly considdered a loss anyhow. maybe there's finally hope the good scripted games come up again if this mess is finally in the past...
still hate them for killing bullfrog (dungeon keeper), blackbox (need for speed: most wanted 2005 & need for speed: undercover), Maxis (SimCity), Westwood (Command & Conquer), DreamWorks Interactive/Danger Close/EA Los Angeles (Medal of Honor), Pandemic (The Saboteur), and so on.

hope it'll be over soon!

Every new announcement doesn't include Wii U....

I mean, Nintendo Switch, nothing new to see here :v

It seems like this is gonna be a console for Wii U remakes xD LOL

They're already doing it for a PS4 / XBone version lol (oh you though NFSP would've been 60fps 1080p on theses ? )... Why not Switch? They just have to do "tricks" like in breath of he wild. It ain't hard to do that kind of stuff, but it indeed take a great amount of time tweaking a lot of stuff.
SquareE did it for DQH 1&2 so.
They aren't doing a downgrade PS4Bone, the game is being directly made for the consoles. And if anything, DQH shows how its not possible to port it. 20 FPS isn't something you want in a racing game.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

It can go from Home Console to portable with the greatest of ease, which is something that has never been done before.

You know, if the Switch can handle a huge open world game that has nearly no limits (of course I'm talking about Breath of the Wild) in 900p docked I think it can handle Need for Speed at 900p - 1080p docked.
Western games are more intensive than games made directly by the company who manufactured the console.

*yawn*

Forza Horizon 3 is a game I played to death and that has now usurped Mario Kart as my most favorite racing game of all time. It sets an extremely high bar that I don't expect many games to even come close to, save for, well, the next Forza Horizon. As such, I highly doubt another freaking Need for Speed game will give me all the racing joy that I want and that I expect after Horizon 3. Especially not one that seems to bank so hard on that Fast-n-Furious-style story cliche. "Payback?" More like "Money Back" after it fails to meet any and all expectations.

Hot dang. This looks awesome! Must not get hyped... HYPED! :P

Probably gonna get disappointed in the end. xD

The Switch is basically a WiiU Pro so it's no surprise many of the big games nowadays are ditching Nintendo's half-assed gaming 'console' (it's really just an oversized gaming handheld).

No Nintendo Switch? Well, there goes all those sales...
Yeah, I don't own a Nintendo Switch. So, I can't judge. But, the games that have been released thus far, and the ones to come look impressive; even for a Ninty console. To be able to race, go around an open world, and maybe even play online; all while having a Home Console Experience, both graphically and physically, all on the go, is quite the opportunity to pass up. Most companies are really missing out with the Switch.

As time passes and more powerful Android devices are made, Android will completely surpass the Switch. The only thing that the Android lacks is not having a physical controller, but when you strip the Switch to its basics, it's just a small tablet.

The Switch is nothing new, other than being Nintendo's new "home console" system.

Terrible comparison. The Switch is anything BUT a "small tablet."

Not a terrible comparison, it's a tablet that only plays games.
Trust me, a tablet doesn't have an nVidia processor or a game card slot. Sure, when you "strip it to it's basics" it's a tablet with a touch screen, but with everything, it's SO MUCH MORE.

To you a 6" tablet might be "big" but that's still relatively small in size in comparison to bigger ones, like 8", 10" and so on. Android devices differ in hardware so they can easily surpass the Switch's hardware any day now. Not to mention that there's barely any games to play on it, unless you count the Neo Geo and some indie games available for it.

If it weren't for the upcoming Nintendo exclusives on the Switch, I wouldn't even have bothered with it.

Now, let's not start the "Master Race Wars" on a thread not even related to the Switch.
