I begin by quoting an email

So there you have it. E3 is going to release all currently available games' eboots in decrypted form which will work without a dongle. They are also going to release the 4.x keys for us to decrypt it on our own.

Sadly its going to take some time but this is probably due to the very bad comments they received once they said you have to buy their own dongle to make further games work. They seem to have adopted another model by which they will get their revenue (other than the downgrade) which is a plus point for us.

Really... risk your necks this badly? I don't believe this in the slightest. Nobody is dumb enough or has the time to decrypt every game in the PS3 library

    Wait... what?

We still have to pay for the eboots? The poor grammar in the e-mail makes it confusing.

EDIT: Read the article on Wololo.net and I understand what's going on now.

pretty sure this means loaders can be updated to boot the newer games and you wont need a dongle to load them

people will still need 3.55 tho as a base

guess they wanna sell more e3 flashers

Cool now just give us a soft mod downgrade or make the current firmware custom. Then it really will be a "great news for all ps3 user."

I had this mixed up with the other E3 for a second there; that made this a bit puzzling at first.

if they can find a way to install dex on ANY firmware, then you could use the dex to run decrypted games.

Someone released 3.60 keys today. So many 3.60 games are running on 3.55 now. Another source said they'll release 3.70 keys a month later. So things are definitely looking good for the PS3 scene again :)

By my understanding though, E3 team are promising to release keys right up to 4.20 or whatever the latest FW is. Which is a far more substantial promise than just the 3.60 keys. Will probably mean loading of all current games on existing 3.55 CFW with slightly updated loaders, and could possibly mean a new CFW based on 4.20, restoring PSN access to people who care about homebrew or (more likely) piracy & cheats (as well as any other new features added between 3.55 and 4.20)

EDIT: Actually, CFW probably won't be possible, chances are it's just the public keys that are going to be released, not the private keys. That just means you can decrypt newer games. Although I think that does mean you could run "backups" of all games on 4.x DEX FWs, as well as homebrew. Meaning that 4.x DEX would be almost the same as 3.55 CFW.

The newest is 4.21 and is mandatory if you wanted to sign_in for trophies.

Contrary to my previous post, CFW probably won't be possible even with the keys E3 Team are releasing, chances are it's just the public keys that are going to be released, not the private keys. That just means you can decrypt newer games. Although I think that does mean you could run "backups" of all games on 4.x DEX FWs, as well as homebrew. Meaning that 4.x DEX would be almost the same as 3.55 CFW. (By my understanding, DEX FWs can load any decrypted games?)
