It was Bungie that said Halo 3 was going to be their last one (Halo Reach was their last one though), but Bungie doesn't have anything to do with Halo 4.

Microsoft bought the series years ago and is continuing on it.

I'm excited. Halo is one of the few modern FPS games I enjoy, and they left us with that cliffhanger ending in Halo 3. I'm really looking forward to Halo 4, though since this Reach was Bungie's last game (so they say) I don't know how well this one will stand.

Yes that was the old trilogy which was the "final chapter" and if you watched there press conference they said this is a new trilogy which starts with Halo 4.

Well they said Reach would be Bungie's last Halo, I don't really know why they added the cliffhanger ending and said that. Oh well, I can't wait.
