dvd to divx/avi

    thinking of buying one of those hard drives that plug into the telly, whats the quickest prog to rip my dvds into avi/divx? does it take ages? want to fill a 500gb drive with stuff (mainly tv shows) that ive already got on dvd

    It depends on your drive speed and CPU speed. I use DVD Decrypter

    got a 16x dvd and 3.0 p4 - not the newest i know, gonna change my 512 ram for 2gb too

    Wait, huh?

    By hard drive, you mean a computer, right? (window's media center, etc)

    I use dvd decrypter with autogk since it's easy that way.

    He has an external HDD that can be plugged directly into a TV. He will rip the files from the disc and transfer them to the HDD with his PC, and they watch them on it.

    What is this tv in question? I've never heard of TV sets doing this (maybe dvd players).

    I hope it supports xvid/divx and h.264 content.

    Other way around, the HDD does all the decoding and outputs video to the TV
