I have DARKCORP, DVDXv2, and WiiMC
I was wondering recently if there is a way to be able to play dvds through the dsic channel. If it is possible, how do u do it?

    Disc-Channel? Hell no, never.

But WiiMC and IOS202 should do the Job.

Shure someone could do this, but only after he finished the Xbox360-Emulator for the Wii [IMG].

It's just not possible because of the way the Disc-Channel works. An Auto-Boot Channel which will automaticly load the DVD would be possible, but modifiying the original Disc-Channel hasn't and won't be done.

That's just silly. The disc channel can't be used for anything besides playing Wii and Gamecube games. You can't change or trick the disc channel into doing something it doesn't know how to do.

I suppose it would be possible for someone to make a channel loader that looks and acts similar to the disc channel but which can determine whether it has been given a game disc, homebrew DVD, movie DVD, etc. in a sort of all-in-one-loader, but I haven't heard of anyone trying anything like this yet.

I strongly disagree that it cannot be done.

The fact that it is possible to load DVD's using third party software indicates the hardware is compatible to do such a task. The disc channel is just software to call upon certain functions to load gamecube/wii games. Also, we have taken forgranted of the fact that the disc channel is more like a forwarder to tell the wii how to load a specific disc (if it is gamecube, switch to gamecube mode. If it is wii, load appropriate IOS).

Since it has already been mentioned that the disc channel just corresponds to software ends, I believe a skilled enough coder who is familiar with the nintendo system can create some map similar to how dvd-r's are read and add more library functions to the disc channel in order to load DVD's. The fact that the task is so huge and we already have certain ways of loading DVD's any such skilled coders who fit the criteria would most likely not bother with it.

This contradicts the statement that it is not possible to create such a thing.

What you're describing sounds more like a multi-loading disc-channel-lookalike similar to what I mentioned earlier; adding functionality to the actual disc channel itself is improbable. Still, all other points stand as true - we've got WiiMC and forwarder channels, not sure why we need to condense everything into a disc channel.

We don't. People just have a hardon for the disc channel for some reason.

Movies via disc sucks. That use the lector uselessly.

Do what Protokun7 says. WiiMC via USB + cIOS202.

I agree. and I think it would be great if someone made a disc channel look alike that could load Wii, Gamecube, and DVDs (backups and originals)

Silly DarkCORP perpetuating the discs-are-easier mindset.

In truth, a multi-loader disc channel knock-off would be a fairly nifty application, but I'd have no use for it.

i call bullshit. You actually cant. Hardmodding at this point has no real use, other than using your leftover money. Everything you can do with hardmods can now be done with softmods easily.

Dude...don't post obviously wrong information, or read the title again: DVD MOVIES. It's not possible.

unless some modchip integrates checking for DVD files and then gives a Mplayer CE channel when found...

would definitely void the warranty and is almost impossible.
