Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour heads to Switch

Next week, the Nintendo Switch will see yet another port arrive onto the Nintendo eShop. Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour has been announced for the platform, having originally released for PC and other consoles back in 2016. This version of the game will feature certain things exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, such as HD rumble support, gyro aiming, motion controls, and a local wireless multiplayer mode. Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour offers new music tracks from the original sound designer, as well as an Episode Five that contains eight brand new levels, all created by two members of the team behind the original Duke Nukem 3D. It'll be available on the Nintendo eShop on June 23 for $9.99, but will have a launch promotion that discounts the game to 50% off if you purchase it prior to July 7th.

this version sucks major ass, even if the port is good, the switch already has ion fury and fan made ports of the original that are considerably less cringe inducing than this version's voice acting, writing and level design.

It's the same exact game at the PS4/Xbox version from 4 years ago.

It has more content than the Vita Megaton edition cus the original creators got back together to do another new episode (8 levels) for the anniversary. This port isnt perfect though but it's got it's pros and cons.

One cool thing is you can switch between the original vanilla engine and the updated fancy prettier engine with one button press in real time.

Still, Randy Pitchfords a piece of shit and I would recommend not ever giving him your money.

I can remember looking at the PS3 ports files and it is moddable. there is like a launcher with a script system for setting up and running the game. both are moddable (Launcher and Game files)

this version is the same as the ps4 version it has all orignal episodes plus birth and the new chapter 5 they made up, hence the same exact name and cover has ps4/xbo release
it doesnt have those 3 fan made ones but has an original chapter made by the devs themselves so its either give or take so i dont think they had more content on either, but just diferent content.

I am always happy with more ports in the Switch. That just means more games for me to play on the go.
Me too, and immense third party support is one of the best things that happened with Nintendo handhelds lately, but I'd avoid it in this particular case. The remaster isn't very good, and the game itself is designed heavily around kb+mouse, so playing it on a gamepad feels uncomfortable all around.

eduke is already ported to the modded switch. it runs really well, running it with a game pad isn't a real issue, you didn't need to aim all that well in the original as it was designed more for just keyboard play.

It's certainly passable, but still suboptimal - it's less about precision and more about level design, which is full of sharp turns, busy rooms, vertical(-ish) spaces, hitscan enemies, and other little things that add up and make turning around with analogs into a bigger annoyance than it usually is in more gamepad-friendly games (especially since movement speed is very fast, 90s FPS and all).

Not to say that it's a gamebreaker for everyone, and you can get used to it, but the question is "whether it's worth getting used to it", aaaaand with this remaster it kinda doesn't. It's just not a good version of the game at all. eDuke - sure, but not whatever we're getting ported officially.
