Hello,

I just got a DSi XL - the Mario Kart bundle sold at Best Buy. For a flashcart, I decided to purchase the EZ-Flash Vi. While playing around with the menus on the DSi, I noticed that you can update the firmware on the DSi, just like the Wii. (My previous DS had no such functionality) I wanted to check to see if the current firmware will cause any issues for me when trying to get the EZ-Flash Vi working on the XL.

Thanks

the ez-lflash vi does not work properly in special mode on the DSi XL & the card is not supported anymore so you have to play newer games in special mode

Its not supported anymore? Jeez, the thing just came out this summer....

What is special mode? What card would you recommend I get?

Thank you for the heads up - should have posted before blowing money on it I suppose.

that's false info
The EZ5i works fine on dsi xl
go ahead and update the dsi, because the EZ5i works fine on nintendo's 1.4.1
it's the only flash cart that didn't need to be upgrade to work

"Special Mode". It's a sort of clean mode.
It will have a speed value like on the clean mode (1 to 10, 10 is the slowest speed).

if a game doesn't work, turning on special mode usually works

not supported??
they just released OB3 3.0 a month ago

they don't release kernels as often as wood or akaio, but that doesn't mean it's not supported anymore

OK - good to know about clean mode. I'm upgrading from an old slot 2 solution, the G6 Flash, which, surprisingly, most games worked fine on.

The ez5i is still supported. Why are you saying that ?

And about the k3.0ob3, you are saying 100% bullshit.

I have a DSiXL and a EZVi.

The flashcard does fine overall, and it has official support.

Plays most of the games and the newest ones with Special Mode (like an auto anti-ap).

The biggest problem I see with the EZVi is the kernel update. These come like in 3 months, just do little fixes and nothing too big.

If you want a long-time support that wont be abandoned like TTDS, and if you dont want a flashcard mantained by a community, then get EZVi.

If you have more money though, get SCDS2.

NOTE: Dont listen to helpme. He is just trolling and talking crap.

OK - thank you again for your feedback.

I just received the Vi today and now I'm in the market for a good SDHC. Does anyone have recommendations? Also, are there size limitations?

Thanks

Good to know, thanks. What are some of these games that require clean/special mode?

On the SD card front, I'm looking at this one: Kingston Technology 32GB Class 4 Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Memory Card

According to some reviews, the EZ-Flash Vi can accept up to 32gb. Figured I may as well max it out. (Or would this be overkill?)

if you have the money for that card, than go for it
I would love to get a 32GB too, especially a class 4

Golden Sun, special mode set to 6 or 5
same for Mario vs Donkey Kong

I don't use my EZ5i that much anymore so those are the only two I know of

Games that require special mode are in orange text in this thread : http://ezflash.sosuke.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=16747

In next kernel update they will be fixed to run in hybrid mode. This update is coming.

And last, i had a confirmation about an ez5i owner that is running games on a 32GB without any problem.

BTW, stay away from all those fake made in Taïwan microsd that we can find in most of bundled offers on Internet nowadays.
Those fake microsd are very very slow in access time to data.

Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize I needed a microSDHC card.... since I partially opened the package (and I'm a goy) the bastard Hasidic store owners won't let me return it - even with a restocking fee.
