Apart from the obvious that the DSi has an SD slot and no GBA slot I was under the impression that the DSi and the DS lite were the same as far as any DS software running on them were concerned. I have just loaded a Megadrive/genesis emulator ( http://www.workingdesign.de/projects/jenesisds.php ) onto my AKi card.. it works fine on the DS lite, but when I put my card into my DSi, the emulator loads and lets you select a ROM to load.. then it hangs....

On both machines the ROM loads and the ROM information is shown at the bottom of the screen but it then hangs on the DSi but not the DS lite. This homebrew was written when the DSi wasn't around and that leads me to wonder if there are any other games or homebrew that doesn't work on the DSi ( Excluding GBA reliant games like Guitar Hero ). I know there is differences in the DSi hardware but I would have thought for backwards compatibility a program designed for the DS would have run no trouble..

Any one else had any DSi / DSi incompatibilities ?

Hope this hasn't been discussed before, I did a quick check first.

Turning Wifi off can help run some homebrews on the DSi, apparently.

Wi-Fi was off on both....

If the yellow light is on, Wireless communications are enabled. To turn it off:

1. Goto System Settings
2. Tap Wireless Communications
3. Tap OFF, then tap OK

Now your yellow light is off. You can't do anything now that has to do with Wireless (Download Play, WiFi etc.) .
To turn it on again just tap ON then OK.

Erm I know how to use the Wi-Fi, like I said it was off.

Long story short-
Not all homebrew works on the DSi.

Period.

No questions asked.

Well, until they release a uber-duper-ultra flashcart that magically fixes all the problems.
Too bad magic doesn't exist.

Still haven't made my move on the DSi, i really don't see what i Lite can't do, exclude the Nintendo Points, and DSiWare; i mean i could live without them, and im kind of reliant on my Slot-2, i still find myself playing GBA games, since developers these days have just lost their touch

    well actually
a new console won't do anything right now, because the games are still in development, that's why there are few games being released

it won't make the games finish any faster

2/3rds of launch titles for the Switch 2 will just be lazy ports of Switch games anyway.
