Homebrew DSAIM takeover?

DSAIM has not had an update in a while and to my knowledge no longer successfuly connects to the AIM servers. Having someone take over that project would be cool and all but if someone could just figure out what needs to be changed to allow sucessful connection with the AIM servers again that would be great as well since the application it self works splendidly.

I thought about this last year and even tried it for myself.... But to no avail (I didn't know what I was doing)

I figured all you had to do was update the dswifilib to work with the newer DS' but if it's as you say the problem is not just the libraries... I don't know.
