Time for RPG nut heads to shout "woo hoo" as a few big RPG hitters hit our portable buddies (hey I'm so close to mine I pleasure it with mouth!). Whats different this week that a couple of games have appeared, usually when I come to post this a few have been put back, so makes a change. August 14th Heroes of Mana US Genre: Strategy-me-do The RPG series return to the DS with erm a Real Time Strategy title! Personally I'd like to play this but some people are whinging as its not a proper ...Mana title (come on people its not like Children... was released years ago) but I'm sure a new game will appear next year. IGN say its the best RTS on a handheld in their preview so lets hope for the best. Also on the game is WFC for online play. Generals will plan, plot and strategize their way to victory on the battlefield. Command an army of heroes, creatures and rabites with the use of the Nintendo DS Touch Screen, and experience an all-new perspective on the ever-evolving battle for the Mana Tree. Skilled players can see how they rank among other players around the world through the Nintendo Wi-Fi ranking system. Luminous Arc US Genre: Strategy-RPG-me-do Yet another RPG hits the DS, this one is quite sort after with its online WFC and voice acting. Gameplay is split between adventure and grid-based strategy battles, with players placing their attack squad and then taking turns attacking with stylus-driven moves on the gridboard. Not very original but at least it could be damn good game to sink some time in. Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon US Genre: RPG-Me-Do Hopefully better than the last DS Harvest Moon and that dull Future HM on PSP. This one is a little different, Described by producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto as Harvest Moon where you wield a sword, the game has being developed with the idea of creating a fantasy world in which the player exists, rather than the standard type of RPG where you play the role of a hero and work your way through a storyline. You are able to capture monsters, raise them on your farm, and add them to your adventuring party. This game apparently has WFC as well, lets hope its a good one. Operation: Vietnam US Genre:Action-me-do So far people have said that this game is Cannon fodder meets Metal Slug with Commando. Sounds good to me! You have four squad members: sniper, medic, heavy guns and normal, as the missions progress, success will depend on clever use of the talents of each. While we have created missions and strategic gameplay suited for particular squad members, the developers have also made the game forgiving enough to be enjoyable without you having to be too puzzle-minded. Could do with a decent game like this on the DS, I hope it isn't a let down. Madden NFL 2008 US Genre: Rugby for wimps-me-do Just joking people, anyway the yearly game returns yet again, I've never played them since the Mega Drive games so no idea if the DS variations are any good or if this one has much improvement over the last title. Looks pretty enough I guess and should be decent for those into the sport. High School Musical: Makin' the Cut US Genre: Crap dance-me-do Oh god this is why Disney should be banned, why can't they just stick to CGI films about animals having a "coming of age" experiance. Damn this bloody thing to hell. Theres no way I'm playing this, I hate the music and anything to do with it. Also out is ATV / Monster Truck Mayhem which is 2 in 1 game, as it looks identicle to two other games. Both were pretty bad. And on the 17th is the Eur version of the Brain Buster game that came out in the US a couple of months ago. August 16th Onsei Kanjou Sokuteiki: Kokoro Scan Japan Genre: Insanity-me-do Yeah this game looks nuts, really nuts. Full of J-Pop goodness, this title uses the DS's mic to detect what mood you are in when you speak into it. A trailer is here and its something that you should watch to see what the hell is going on. It features a man that looks like he's wearing a condom, nipples and bears. Be warned its kinda And thats your lot! As always games may slip to other dates and other games may appear. Sorry about the lack of videos, I'm using a library PC and for some reason YouTube and other video sites are banned, but its easy enough to find the vids yourself. Titles for next week: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (Japanese release), Gyakuten Saiban 3 (Best Price!) (Japanese but will have a English option), Powershot Pinball Constructor (Europe, lets see if it slips again), Hayate no Gotoku (Japan, and looks like Phoenix Wright...with butlers and maids) and various others.
