    Hello,

Ever since I've had my DS Lite, the unresponsiveness of it's buttons compared to the preciseness of the DS Phat's buttons has bothered me, as it makes gameplay more difficult, and hurts your thumb after a while.

Is there a way to swap the button contacts from the inside of the DS Phat to the DS Lite, or a 3rd party button replacement of some kind?

The DS Lite's buttons hurt you? You must have weird shaped thumb... as the DS Phat's buttons used to hurt me like hell, the ones on the lite don't hurt a bit. However, games that need constant use of the shoulder buttons(MPH & MKDS) are another story on the Lite... [IMG]

I agree with OP, I really don't like the mushy feeling of the buttons and it does bother me (the D-Pad most of all) to play for long periods of time. I've never had a DS Phat, but I loved the buttons on the GBA SP. The tactile feel and responsiveness was perfect. If the DS Lite had the same type of buttons, I'd have no complaints.

I find it hard to play Mario Kart DS with the Lite, because I have to hold my thumb on the accelerate button pretty hard, which makes it easy to let go by accident. This can mess up your entire race.

I didn't have my DS phat for long before I get a DSL, but you get used to it after a while. I've completely forgotten how the old DS buttons felt like

Ah, DS Phat. I can just about remember what diagonal movement felt like.

That would happen to me on the phat... [IMG] Fortunately it never happens on the Lite. DS Lite FTW!

I totally one hundred and sixty six percent prefer the buttons on the phat. I love those types of buttons (also found on GBA SP). Small, flat and clicky. Especially the dpad. It's just so easy to do diagonals too.

That's what I hate about my Lite, but I've learned to put up with it. The smaller shape and the fantastic screens are worth it.

I hope the 3rd hardware revision of the DS Lite has clicky buttons [IMG]

There was a rumour about that they were going to ages ago. And it was to be aimed at the "older" market. Also IIRC Nintendo said a while ago that they do in fact plan a 3rd revision.

The first thing I noticed about my DSL was the D-Pad. I would prefer the DS-Phat button's ver the DSL's.

When I first tried the Phat on a display the buttons were way too hard for me. together with brightness, stylus, compactness (smaller than GBC) and wiiish design, this was one of the main arguments for the lite.

although I do prefer clicky keys on keyboards.
