Hacking DS Linker + Animal Crossing dilemma

I'm getting my DS and DS Linker this week. I've read about a an error when trying to get a friend code in Animal Crossing, but haven't been able to find a solution so far.

I don't even have my DS yet, so I don't know exactly what's wrong, but I want to know if it's going to be a big problem. Is there any kind of workaround? Could I use different firmware on my DS Linker? Patched rom? Or is it something that can be fixed in firmware upgrades?

Anyone know?

Edit: Does anyone know if the Jap version has the same problem?

Was starting to regret not getting an R4. I'm so glad I picked the DS Linker now. The new firmware looks pretty good with auto DLDI etc. Now I just want soft reset.

you never know soft reset might be coming our way

i was talking to a member of the N-card team and i asked about action replay codes and soft reset he said " thats a very good idea i will pass the ideas onto the engineer"
